Default Back window tint and brake light

So when you take a car in for aftermarket tint, are shops required to cut around the brake lamp in the back window or do they just do this because it is a difficult area to access? Is it possible to tint the entire back window without removing the trim and plastic from the back dash/window?

Had my car done recently and it didn't even dawn on me to ask about that so unfortunately they cut around the brake light (looks terrible IMO) and I was curious if this is industry standard or laziness.

From what I read of the motor vehicles act that covers lamps and windows, the rules are about the height of the brake lamp in the window as long as there are other rear tail lights that work.

I believe they do this by default but you can request to have the brake light covered

I was told it depends on the shop and how easy it is to get behind the light. When I had my old corolla gts, there were a couple clips on the side in which they popped off the get the cover off and they were able to tint the whole back window. With my accord, it wasn't as easy for some reason, and the same shop cut around it. Just speaking from personal experience with shop.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

Cutting around the 3rd brake light defiantly gives off a cheap unpolished look. I always remove the 3rd brake light when I bring my car in for tint for this reason.
