Question Infant ear piercing in YYC

I'm looking to see if anyone has ever used a YYC tattoo shop to pierce their infants ears. My wife would like get our little girls ears pierced but is having a hard time finding the right place. The research that she's put in indicates that either a Tattoo shop or Merle Norman are the best choices for infant ear piercing. So before we just head on out the door I thought some recommendations would be of some help.

Is your infant a fashion accessory? If no, why are you getting her ears pierced before she even knows wtf it is?

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Last I heard most reputable tattoo/piercing shops will not do Toddler/Infants ears. It seems like the industry is going away from that and wanting to wait until the child can make their own decisions.

It might be a cultural thing. Our friends got their russian daughter pierced at 9 months. They also said that the girl wouldnt remember it hurting. I find it really wierd seeing a 9 month old with big diamond studs in her ears though.

Plenty of other kinds of corporal mutilation that are "culturally" normal.

I am with others, let her make her own decisions on whether she wants her ears pierced.

Though i will admit i see it as 50/50 lately whether parents either do it ridiculously young, or make them wait until they are teenagers. Don't know much in between.

My cousin had her daughter done super young just so people wouldn't mistake her for a boy

Comments: Tried to find a ear piercing shop in the main concourse to do my infant's ears. Was disappointed to find nothing, had to resort to a baggage handler with a safety pin and a cigarette lighter. Would not use again.

man I'm sure glad I didn't ask this group if I should get my boy circumcised. I wonder if he would want to wait to make that decision. bwahahaha

So shops here stopped ear piercing infants (makes a lot of sense to me) but circumcisions are still a thing. Oh, us

At least he'd have enough blood to not bleed to death:

And if he wouldn't want it done when he's old enough to decide, why decide for him when he's an infant?

Dammit, I'm the derailiest of thread derailers that ever did derail.

    this thread blows my mind.

Yeah I read this when it came out. Anyone that I've talked to who's had that done later in life has said it's been pretty traumatic. I don't think anyone would do it unless they had to later in life.

Initially I wasn't going to let my daughter pierce her ears until she was 16, but when she was 10 she came to me and took the time to ask me if she could pierce them and actually convinced me she understood what she wanted to do and that she was ready. I have a good friend of mine who owns a reputable tattoo shop that was also a piercing studio (no longer piercing since they moved). He normally doesn't do children but because he is a good friend of mine and knew we were not pressuring our daughter to do it and that she was fully wanting this of her own accord and not in a dumb kid sort of way (he grilled her about it!lol), he did it for her.

I personally do not believe in doing anything cosmetic on anyone without them making the choice themselves, and especially with kids that line should not be easily crossed...
