Watched this last night on Netflix.


Holy shit, what a powerful movie. Extremely graphic and brutal portrayal of what the children of West Africa civil war have faced.
What I found amazing was the acting of these children. Almost to the point where it was "docomentari'ish" instead of a scripted, acted movie.

Idris Elba's (I got the name right this time) portrayal of his character was award winning.

I found this review to be quite accurate.

I thought it was OK. Good acting, straightforward story that accurately portrays a realistic situation that affects people in Africa. I think it's important for people to know this kind of stuff goes on, but the movie didn't blow my mind. It's also almost exactly the same story line as the book "A Long Way Gone" by Ishmael Beah if you've read that, which could be why I wasn't as impressed by it.

This movie gave me goosebumps. There are some very intense and shocking scenes in it. It's a well told story, I enjoyed it. I suggest using subtitles as the main character is hard to understand when he is narrating.

Watched it last night. Some very good cinematography and scene selection in this movie. Sad film but overall was quite good.
