True, and I am happy about that, but at the same time, to assume a refugee who may not even speak english can start immediately working a job (and a full-time job at that) is hard to imagine, all while supporting a family in a brand new country.Originally posted by sputnik
The point of refugee support is that they are supported to an extent and find work to cover the difference.
Its not like we are giving them enough money to sit around and do nothing. We are just giving them a hand up to get started.
Not that these people will be homeless, but if I had the choice, I'd prefer fewer refugees and a larger amount of $$$ per person spent on those fewer refugees if we are going to do this right. "Wealth" is the number one pre-determining factor in anyone's success, bringing 25k people over and not being able to give them the "hand up" they need seems silly.
