Well done brother, I love the list! You had some awful thick skin back in the day. I remember on more then one occasion thinking to myself "fuck guys, enough already with the Viffer is "...well you know the rest.Originally posted by viff3r
Oh yeh that viffer guy was a real dipshit.
I just noticed the other day that the forums are dead. The "pic of the week" is from 2013. lol.
I met tons of great folks through CGP (including my insurance guy!), went on some great rides, and had some good laughs posting in the forums. In its heyday CGP sadly consumed a large portion of my time.. good thing most of my posting was done on company time. Its downfall, in my opinion, was over-zealous moderation and too much effort to keep discussions on-topic. Once the humour and good natured ribbing was gone, the regulars left and never returned, turning it into the ghost town that it has been for the last 3 years. As beyond.ca has proven, you need more than 100% enthusiast discussion to keep people coming back - you gotta have the off topic entertainment.
Here are some other OG names for ya - Roach, X, bleed4speed, fastlayne, Krispy (RIP), Crewzn, Rcktgrl, snowcatxx (lol), zorac, eclipse, Carson Blocks (but I will always remember him as 93vfr750), Gutter, ...........
Ya, cuz Beyond doesn't eat up a bunch of time eh!Originally posted by carson blocks
I was huge in to that site for a looong time and you're right viff, it was a huge time sink but it was a big part of my daily routine. You're also right that overmoderation took the fun away. The CRKs moved on, and a few others dropped due to work and family and it died without an influx of new members to make up for it. I offered to buy it a couple times while it was still salvageable, and back when I would have had the time to really grow it with advertising, a booth at the bike show, etc. It's sad that it's gone and the bike chat has moved on to facebook, as I just don't use facebook, but I certainly have more productive workdays now than I did back then.

Haven't looked it up in ages, but still keep in touch with some guys I met on there.
Here's a pic from one ride.. There was 4 or 5 cops showed up.. I think they had read the thread stating when and where we were leaving from - cause we didn't make it far. I believe one guy got taken away for outstanding warrants. ha That'd be 10 yrs ago.
Not sure if this was the same day or not, but the 2 pics are together in a folder

Shaard was another OG on there. I don't know if he lurks on Beyond though.

Are there any other good local bike oriented forums? I am alone in Edmonton as far as riding is concerned, so maybe that's why I feel like selling it. Wouldn't mind it if there was a 'crew' of sorts to ride around with I guess. In Calgary was great since my brother, cousins and some friends rode.
Theres not much for forums in Calgary either, theres the 403 guys but thats about it i think. I love riding like nothing else but i cant ride alone either, its not the same without buddies. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's just the state of the internet these days, human laziness taking over. Who wants to read paragraphs and shit when they can just scroll through pictures with 5-word taglines or witty quotes. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
