I am wanting to book a trip to NYC over the Christmas break. I usually visit during the Summer and Spring. What is the weather like near the end of December? Does the extra humidity make it bone-chilling cold?
Thanks!

Not particularly. I recall spending xmas in NYC a few years ago, light drizzle, and we wore spring type coats when outside.
hit and miss really, first time I was in NYC for Xmas 6 years ago, the weather was like +10C so I was walking around in a hoodie.
then 2 years ago it was a little more cold but still not bad, comparable to -5C here.
jacket, gloves and hoodie but since you'll walk a lot in NYC you'll warm up fairly quickly.
we even took a ferry to staten island.
i still want to experience snow in NYC but it seems like February/March is the best time for that.
I was in NYC in December last year and it was pretty cold during the evenings
I'm in NYC every spring and it's fucking cold. I am a pussy tho when it comes to the cold, so YMMV.

It's funny how that place looks so big on tv and then you go see it in real life....
Went there for New Years with the wife a few years ago. While it wasn't really cold, it felt cold. Like a humid cold.

I was there for xmas and new years, brought a goose down jacket with me, +2 with windchill was absolutely unbearable. I would have preferred calgarys -30 with windchill. No matter how many layers I had on, the humid cold just went straight through everything.
I stayed at Bryant Park hotel, the entire area for a 10 block radius north is an absolute zoo, foot traffic and car traffic, however I did enjoy it, the festive spirit was high, the sappy love-comedy christmas movies don't exaggerate what NYC is like during the holidays.
Bone chilling cold!
Dude go somewhere else man. You go every year lol

I am really wanting to experience NYC during the holidays. We usually stay at the Renaissance on 57. The location is central to alot of our favorite places to frequent.Originally posted by l/l/rX

I've been there during a chillier Spring and I agree, the windchill made it bone-chillingly cold. I assumed better temperatures, but was there unprepared. I will know better and pack plenty of warm layers.
This will actually be my third time this year. Shopping is fantastic. I would live there if I could.Originally posted by max_boost
