Default Recommend me a plumber to replace my crappy hot water tank

When we fill up our master bath it becomes like this. The amount of sediment wouldnt fill a glass across the bottom at all, but it colors the water brown. Has anyone else noticed this before?

When I fill up a 4L glass container at our kitchen sink with hot water I don't get any brown tint or sediment, and I havent noticed anything with either shower.

I think its a hot water tank problem as i just discovered a small pool of water and two active drips from sort of half way up the hot water tank

Has this been happening for a while? Sometimes when the city has to do repairs on the water supply pipes, some sediment gets into the lines, but I have found it flushes out pretty fast.

Have you ever drained the sediment out of your hot water tank?

That is what I initially thought after reading something to that effect on the council website. But now I think its actually the tank leaking and not from a valve. I think it might be rusting from the inside out. Confirmed not rusting from a valve but out of the sides where the power unit attaches to the hot water tank itself. I turned off the tank's power since it could be compromised now I guess I need a plumber.

I've replaced 2 water heaters in the last month, It's pretty simple if you have the tools. Learned how to solder copper pipes as well.

Some kijiji ads for plumbers seem alright though, 600-800 for a water heater install. Considering a water heater costs about 500-700 anyways.

I would highly NOT recommend ARO Plumbing (also know as Need a Plumber).

    That's is all.

Age of HW tank? I think 10 yrs is a avg replacement age. Might need to replace due to age anyways. I heard that insurance can take that into consideration IF there is a leak and the tank was the issue.

Hardest part is removing old one as it can be heavy from sediment.

As well, I would test your shut off valves before even attempting. As in your main one. Should be a ball valve. A gate valve, the packing and internals will degrade over time and leak. They also have a tendancy to seize. Then leak after turning them.
Replacing the water main valve in house requires city to shut your water off.

Try the guys at Royal Flush. Did a great job for me on doing the plumbing for a new shower.

Or if he's lucky and has the water valve over the tank. Close it first to make sure, if it leaks then go back and try the main valve

What's wrong with tankless? I've been thinking about switching the other way.

    Recommend our resident plumber MARio.

Sounds like there's a story here
Didn't you say you had a tank installed with no issues?

I highly urge you to NOT use Clearview. Those guys are way overpriced.....just my opinion of course.

Try Pete the Plumber. I got a 50 gallon tank installed with the old one removed for $1008. 40 gallon is cheaper.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.
