Default New Alberta Climate Change Plan

    http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-...s-climate-plan

"Albertans will pay $3 billion more annually in a new economy-wide tax on carbon and all emissions from coal-fired power plants will cease in 2030, under the NDP government’s new climate change strategy released Sunday.

But the new carbon tax will be revenue-neutral and up to 60 per cent of Albertans – low income households – will receive rebates for some or all of the increased cost they pay for home heating and gasoline.

The plan predicts the new tax of $20 per tonne in 2017 and $30 per tonne in 2018 will cost the average household $320 annually in 2017 and $470 in 2018."

Meanwhile everywhere else in the world: "who cares about the environment." The US has no plans of stopping coal mining or coal plants. China is building new factories weekly that pump out more emissions monthly then the oil sands do in a year. India, Russia, the Middle East....let's not even get started.

The NDP is so fucking stupid.

I'm still trying to figure out taking more from my pocket in terms of new fees is “putting money in the pockets of Albertans”

Ok, so wait. None of the money collected will go towards funding or subsidizing clean energy, or diversifying the way we generate power in this Province? It'll just be handed back to low income families as rebates?

Right, so, call it a Climate Change Plan and hope nobody realizes it will have no impact on Climate Change and is just the NDP buying votes from those who'll be getting some bad ass rebates.

    Outstanding

More costs for essentials like heating your home while searching for a new job after being laid off. That's real change, thanks NDP voters.

    From the interwebs:

"so, we are removing our fighter jets from Syria because ( according to many Liberal sound bites lately ) because our 6 planes have little impact and account for a small fraction of the bombings. Am I the only one confounded by the similarities...and the difference in response ?"

So glad they plan to phase out coal with zero explanation for how they'll come up with the 6,000 MW of generation they plan on getting rid of.

Im certainly NOT pro NDP but I am all-in for closing down coal (very bad for people and environment) - AB needs to get off the near zero-fucks given to environmental concerns.

A portion of the tax will be invested into measures to reduce pollution, including clean energy research, green infrastructure such as public transit and programs to help Albertans reduce their energy use.
