Default MLA killed in car crash

Just found out this sad and unfortunate news about an incident that happened this afternoon. Conservative MLA Manmeet Bhullar was killed in a car accident near Airdrie. He was a family friend and very well liked individual. It is absolutely shocking to hear as he was a great advocate of human rights.

Unofficial but sounds like he was trying to help out at a crash.

    From Matt Dykstra (Sun Media)
RCMP statement. MLA Manmeet Bhullar stopped to help someone and was struck by a semi-trailer

    Rest in peace

Yup, the original CBC article has been updated. Such a good man. The fact that he was helping others when this happened, shows his true character. I didn't necessarily agree with his political views all the time, but he was always open and accepting of others' thoughts and views.

This is such a tragedy. RIP.

Manmeet is a relative of mine. Words can not describe how kind and big hearted he was. Passed away doing what he loved doing the most.

Manmeet was a friend of mine and truly dedicated his life to public service. His most recent plight was to help a persecuted minority in Afghanistan. His service was in no way just limited to Alberta. It is no surprise he would get out of his car in poor weather conditions to help someone in distress. Sad loss for Calgary, Alberta and just humanity in general.

    RIP.

I'm curious what happens in this situation politically? Is there a by-election?

I am actually pretty heart broken. I met him once. He was genuinely interesting and engaging.

300zxfairlday, I'm sorry for your loss.

He really was a super nice guy. We definitely lost 'one of the good ones' yesterday. I feel for his family and friends. Their posted hastag last night did make me smile though #nicetomanmeetyou

RIP Manmeet Singh, while his time here was short his impact will be felt for years to come. He only got married a couple of years ago, my heart goes out to his wife, family and friends.

RIP Manmeet, condolences to the family.

I can't believe he was only 35 years old, I always thought he was much older than that. He seemed to have accomplished a lot for his age.
