Any recommendations for a good non dealer shop for GM maintenance? Canyon is plenty out of warranty now so really seems there's no sense in going to the stealership for maintenance, no garage at the moment or I would just do it myself.

I really like integra tire in douglas glen. They're honest and do a great job.

Looking at Sierra 1500 Elevations currently. Question for those with trucks, have you ever regretted the move from an SUV to a truck? My reasons for wanting one: I'd love to be able to rent a trailer in the summer for camping. I'd also like to make my home depot trips easier, and of course trucks just look cool. The downside for me is that it won't fit in my garage so I'd be back to street parking through our winters... Anyone in this same boat that can tell me whether they think it's worth it or not? I have 2 young kids (6 & 3) as well. Has a truck made things better/easier?

    What SUV?

We moved from a fullsize to a minivan cos it was way easier with three kids 2 and under, but now that they're older, a truck would be just fine again

You'll lose enclosed cargo space like the SUV has and of course your garage parking like you say, it'll also probably be worse on fuel than a small/mid SUV...there's even a few midsize SUVs that can tow a trailer big enough for 4-5 people

Its ultimately your call at the end of the day...but you'll sacrifice something whatever you choose, unless you just buy dedicated vehicles for everything, which is always the best way...DBP!

We're going to go back to a truck pretty soon (probably next year) but we'll probably keep the minivan for the kid-centric errands and the truck for trips and towing

All good points. I've got a 2016 Toyota Highlander. I think it can technically tow 5000 lbs although I wouldn't want to get near that amount with it. I'd also need to get the proper wiring harnesses installed, but something to think about.

We rented a trailer last year, I'd need to get the wife to look up the specs in her history but it could sleep 5 (queen fold down table and then a double bunk with single above. It was like 6300lbs with the water and gas full and buddy dropped it off to us with a Durango, says he pulled it everywhere with that thing so it's definitely something to consider if you don't "NEED" a truck

Perfectly OK to just want to have a truck though, don't need to justify it to anyone other than yourselves!

I was a car guy… and thought trucks were too redneck for me, so I got an suv … in three months I regarded getting an suv , cause it still would not do truck things … within a year a had a truck…

Get a truck you will not regret it

And if you’re looking to buy a GMC/Chevy truck and value power and fuel efficiency take a hard look at the 3.0 Duramax. Unbelievable fuel economy and they have a ton of jam.

I have a serious hankering for an Aviator. I should probably buy one.

Better to be looking at it than looking for it, they say.
