This is a massive problem with the new gen T1’s.

That being said, they have had some success in getting in lately and there is a shop in the stars who can do BCM customization now.

Very irritating though.

My 2019 has a similar issue. I think aftermarket tuning for GM vehicles is a big enough market that this is a problem that will solve itself.

A 700HP Tahoe would be so excellent though.

Well it’s a 30k USD supercharger on an otherwise ordinary GM 6.2.

So the fact that they are ripping people off is pretty much right in the title lol

Pretty sure you can buy a blown 6.2 crate for less than that.

You are just paying for cool YouTube videos and Hennessy stickers on the sides.

Dodge went through this a few years ago. The tunes now include an unlocked PCM from an older model year.

I don’t see why GM cares about if you neuter your emissions system after it rolls off the lot? As long as it passes the EPA tests they can wash their hands of it.

This is about stifling aftermarket and trying to ensure that any upgrade dollars stay within GM. Either in the form of OEM upgrades or new vehicles. That’s the only thing that really makes sense here.

GM doesn’t care but governing bodies do. GM just doesn’t want their PP slapped for making things too easy and governing bodies coming down on them.

Disagree- I think @killramos has the right idea here. Same thing John Deere did/does; it's about securing additional aftermarket revenue and keeping the dealer network healthy. New cars are just too damn reliable and people ain't buying new ones that often.

Got some more info, I spoke too soon. Was available last month apparently, not this month.

Also learned my contact has moved on to other things.

CMP just sent me an email saying I can trade in my ‘19 Sierra and lease a ‘21 with less options, the little engine, and pay more monthly than my current finance.

Seems like GM is less desperate to make a sale than Ford right now.
