Truck just rolled 100,000kms. To celebrate it got a transmission fluid exchange and new 275/70/18 BFG K02's. I thought that would solve the "tire noise" but it made it worse (actually the new tires were just quieter). Took the truck to GMC for the trans service and they noted the pinion bearing is going out. All covered by powertrain warranty. That will be the first repair required outside of a seal on the cab brake light. Some weeping on the trans cooler lines I'm keeping and eye on, and something is wrong with the fuel tank evap system. Too lazy to fix so I leave the truck running when I fuel up.

Can't believe I am saying this but...

What are the more informed truck people's opinions of the Sierra AT4 with the 6.2 & 10Sp?

Kindof had my heart set on a gladiator, but then i realized I was a moron, combined with my timeline for truck stuff moving up such that I can't get a gladiator diesel anyways...

Anything in particular I should be afraid of on these or key boxes that really should be checked?

On the capability side, GM's website is incredibly unhelpful as to whether the AT4 package noticeably decreases capability. Its not a raptor, but same idea.

And I'm not an expert, but isn't at4 closer to the fx4 package and not the raptor?

Yea I think so. But I honestly don't know anything about any of this.

All I know is Raptors can't tow worth a damn and i wondered if the AT4 package with the lift and Off Road suspension had similar issues. Its new but its essentially the same as Trail Boss and Z71 from what I can tell?

My brother has an FX4 and from what I can tell it has pretty beastly tow capabilty? At least that's his claim.

The US site is often better than Canada's. Not in this particular case, but in general.

    https://www.gmc.com/trucks/choose-yo...0-pickup-truck

That link makes it look like a little less towing capacity and a little less payload capacity. Other than the 2" lift and different tires there shouldn't be any significant changes between the AT4 and any other trim, capability-wise, if I know GM like I think I do. The difference in towing and payload probably has more to do with the tires than anything else.

From my two minutes of research seems like at4/trail boss is shocks, skid plates, tires and lockers. Pretty much same as FX4. Raptor is a lot more involved than that, which is why raptor has lower payload/tow capability and the other option packages have typical half ton capability.

My work truck is a 2017 2500. Why in holio fuck doesn't my tailgate unlock with everything else? Sometimes on the keyless entry it'll unlock, but sometimes it won't. Same with the unlock button on the doors. Sometimes it'll unlock if I shut the truck off and try the button, or if it's off, if I start the truck and try the button. Most of the time nothing works and I have to use the key to manually unlock the tailgate. Rarely can I get to work and have the tailgate open like it's supposed to.

Sweet. AT4 seems perfect for me.

Poseur who doesn't really need a truck but wants it to look off road cool. But still be able to do truck things when needed.

I would much rather the off road mods come stock from factory with warranty in any case.

Even as a Ford fanboy, I can't see the use case for the raptor for most people. It's obnoxiously wide for starters.

A bit biased as a GM truck guy (owned all of the competition too) but the 6.2/10sp is amazing. Pretty decent on fuel too. The AT4 is basically a off road Denali, don't think the AT4 has any less equipment aside from the Denali specific ride control. Anyway, great trucks, great handling and ride/power.

Sweet. Any favourite dealers / salesmen on here? Best time of year to buy a truck? ( I assume it’s coming up shortly on ‘19’s.

The front still has not grown on me.

    6.2L 8 speed was a fun drive. Haven't driven a 10 speed

AT4 sounds like a sweet truck especially with the 6.2..
