Had a small vacay to LV and California planned for the upcoming week and the group we are going with has expressed concerns about travelling due to "whats going on in the world"... lets leave it at that.
What a crock of sh!t!

It was a couples trip and now my missus is on tilt too (due to the uproar)!!
Shouldn't it be a good time to go now? They just executed their plan so if anything were to happen, it would take time to plan the next event. It probably won't be as busy and you'll get better service! Too bad the airlines haven't severely discounted trips to Europe yet.
Invite the guys instead and actually have a good time.
Hilarious that people consider the world to currently be in unrest. There is always something whether its israel killing some people, or arabs killing some people, or africans killing some people, or south asians killing some people, or crazy kid with schizophrenia killing some people, or russians killing some people, orchinese killing some people, or an earthquake killing some people. There is a continuous stream of people killing some people or people dieing in statistically unlikely ways all across the world since the history of time.
Honestly if you let your life be dictated by these kinds of events you would never leave your basement. About as likely to be blown up living your life in Calgary compared to Vegas or California imo. Also more likely to be killed driving to work than by any of these events.

But really, from a statistic perspective, the chances you get hit by terrorist is almost nil.
Who give a shit, if you change the way to live, the terrorist has already won.
Tell your friends to turn off their TV.
Don't make friends with flakes
have them watch San Andreas too before they go. Give them something else to worry about.
Yea. People forget that those places you travel to have citizens who still go bout their daily lives.Originally posted by Xtrema

We traveled to Florida from the UK, a mere 2 weeks after 9/11...each of the 5 of us had a row to ourselves and essentially first class service in coach
The best time to travel (not specifically to an affected area) is when the mass media preaches irrational fear - could be weather, terrorists, stock market crashes, etc.Originally posted by haggis88

Best chances at getting upgraded too!
I can eat more hot wings than you.
^ airlines won't upgrade you unless the lower class is full (coach full so upgrade to business so they can sell an extra coach ticket) so your logic is wrong. You might get a full row in coach to lay across though!
OP...this sounds like rich soccer mom's needing something to talk about. Tell them no to go and take the trip to LA with the boys or alone. Significant others in Vegas is lame as hell...do you plan on watching the circus and eating at buffets for a few days?
Reminds me of the big flu scare. We had invited my sister and brother in law to our place in Cabo.
Travel warnings, and doom and gloom about the flu. He emailed saying "I guess it's off"
I replied, "we're going. We changed airlines since our original flight was cancelled due to a lack of balls. You can still come if you want. We'll be there"
They came, we had a blast. My employer threatened to "quarantine" me when I got back.
I said "no problema" I can work from home. They backed down.
Much ado about nothing.

Things are a bit tense in France/Belgium so I would avoid that area but other than that, like Xtrema mentioned earlier, statistically the chance of something happening will always be the same (very low).
I just came back after a week in Israel/part of West Bank and felt perfectly safe the entire trip. However, reading the news everyday did scare me a bit.
