sounds good, now deciding which car to take, TDI or GTI. Looking forward to it, first time out.

I've done it on non studded rwd as well, certainly not the fastest way to do things but you'll still have a good time.

There is more grip than you would think esp on snow.
Unfortunately all the snow is gone from the lake... the huge drifts all melted over the course of 3 days a couple weeks ago so it's basically just glare ice. Very very slippy even with studded tires.

Yeah I can imagine that the lake is just polished sheet ice right now. Good practice but not much fun for the hot laps I'd assume.

What a great day yesterday - it sure was slick out there but it allowed me to really get a feel for what it's like on sheer ice in my vehicle.

Studded tires FTW, you sure did see the difference on the vehicles that had them. Also, I don't remember the instructors' name but he took us out for a hot lap on the track at the end in his ATS - damn that was amazing!

That would have been James ... He's a very good driver despite not having been around all "that" long ... a natural I think.

Haha thanks Reijo. Lots of time playing video games and talking theory when I was growing up must be working.

We went out to ghost lake yesterday too and were wondering what that group of cars was!
Super fun but sketchy as shit haha. The ice is cracking quite a bit as you drive or walk on it. So many nopes! Got some really cool pictures though.

The ice makes cracking noises ... even when it is 1 meter thick ... just the nature of the beast.

however, if you see water coming up from the crack, run!
