Spread the word and tell your friends and neighbours etc. about these. This is one way we can give back to the community at large and let our presence as motorsports enthusiasts get broadcast and known. Of course, the main point is to help the general public become more adept at handling their vehicles in winter conditions (of course, the principles apply to all conditions!!!).

One of the greatest driver improvement schools available. I have taken several commercial light vehicle training courses, and I think this is more valuable.
Sent my wife one year, she enjoyed it.
    Might send myself again.

Should I bring my wife? Can't tell if you are proposing a threesome or a wife swap.

Will my Honda Civic with winter tires be sufficient for this or will I not be able to even make the boat ramp? Excuse my ignorance.

    Looks like 150$

It's buried in there... Think it was the dec27 event I spied it on.

Working to talk my boss into letting me bring the work truck (its definitely got a wierd weight distribution that makes me think some lake time would rock!)

Are these kind of events also good for individuals with an SUV 4x4 like a 4runner? or is this for people with smaller cars or sports orientated cars?

I did it in a pickup truck last time. Does not need to be a sports car.

I can't see any need for additional insurance. When I was there, I don't think it would have been possible to have a collision.

AFAIK, you do not have insurance when you're on the ice. They do spread the cars way out though and stop people if someone spins out on course.

$150 adults and $75 for students (with valid student ID)

Good for whatever car you winter drive. Sports car, sedan, SUV, truck, doesn't matter. So long as you've got winter tires or at the very least a set of all seasons with tread remaining.

No, track insurance is not required. We keep the spacing between vehicles quite large to keep things safe. There really isn't anything for you to hit.

The one incident which happened a few years back was a low speed fender bender in the parking area as I believe a visitor (non-student) came in a little too quick into the parking area and had his wheels pointed at another car.

One thing to keep in mind though, and this applies anytime you drive on ice is that your regular auto insurance is most likely void. So if in the very highly unlikely event (we check ice thickness before every school in multiple places) your vehicle fell through the ice you'd be on the hook.
