I will have to chime in here... The 550 did quite well in not getting stuck let's call it beginners luck lol

Those were also some pretty knarly snow drifts. Very easy to high center yourself. Both the ats and s60 looked great on the ice. Something quite picture esq with a Volvo around snow and ice. Looks the part of you catch my drift

I couldn't believe how fast you and Reijo drove your Volvo around 94Boosted. I know you said the E-Diff is annoying but that thing is a rocket on the ice tracks.
C63 AMG S was my favorite because of that noise, and it just wanted to fling you backwards in a fit of rage no matter what corner hehe. The M3 was so much more controlled and tame and driveable though, so if you want to go fast on ice between the two cars the M3 is the one to have.

The MR2 (red) and Fit are instructor's car. They've been around since the start of this event few years ago. I believe they were the original 'founder' of this event.

This is the first year that I missed out... definitely need to join next year.

It was great to meet all of you and to hear that you all had a great time!!!
Also thanks Cos for pulling me out of the snowdrift and was nice to meet you.
As for the pizza boxes, my bad...I wanted to get you going to go help rescue people then I'm not sure what happened after lunch.
I had to leave early unfortunately so I didn't get to see everyone do the road course.
My car has started to get put back together after that nasty snow drift took out my lip and skid plate.
I won't be bring it out anymore...it will have to be the truck from now on and from what I've seen a tow hook and rope!!!

Just signed up for the Feb 7 event.

What tire pressure is recommended for this? Just stock levels?

I have taken the course 6 times; last time on Jan 10th (because it's fun and I always learn something new). I have left mine as per manufacturers recommendation as I want to see how the car, and I, behave based on what I'm driving it like on a regular basis.

I do turn off the traction control for the most part so I can see how the car behaves without it. Also don't want to overheat the brakes or not be able to use the throttle to make adjustments.

    Have fun!

Axe is right, the recommended tire pressure should be fine.

Question, there seems to be around 25 already going to the Feb 7 event, is that close to capacity? will it be too many if me and a buddy is going as well?

Also for those who goes to this event there is a free token for summer autoslalom in 2016 for SASC members?

    Thanks!

I believe capacity is around 30 people. So yes it's fairly close.

Correct, for all that attend, there is a free pass for an autoslalom event in 2016. You do not have to be a SASC member for this.

Edit: I guess you have to be a member... just took a look at the certificate for this year. Still a good deal none the less.

    That's right.

For those that attended on the 10th and didn't get a certificate PM me and I'll get you one. I forgot to hand them out at the end of the day.

    Afternoon all,

I'm heading to the WDT5 event tomorrow. Just curious, has anyone done this course in a FWD car on non-studded winters? With the thaw going on and it being extra slippery, i'm thinking if it will just be me and my car going 'straight on' all the time

I did it on unstudded performance winters (aka garbage winters) in a rwd. I think you will be fine.

There is more grip than you would think esp on snow.
