Default 98 civic si cylinder 2 low compression

    Hey guys

I have a 98 civic si bone stock

While driving between 2000-2500 rpm the car struggles really bad and once it hits 3000 rpm its drives normal

I have already clear out my iavc, new spark plugs and wire, fuel injectors are cleaned

After all that car still act the same so when ahead and did a dry compression test

Cylinder 1,3,4 all came 120 psi
Cylinder 2 came at 30 psi

So I believe the valve in cylinder 2 is done. Is this replaceable?

I don't have a whole knowledge of taking apart the engine and doing this type of work

Is there anyone that knows someone that can do this?
    Let me know. Thanks

Are you sure it's a valve leak? If it is just get a use head and it could be rings as well, put a cap of oil into cylinder 2 and check compression if the compression is better then your know it's the rings and time for a new engine

Sounds like you're in over your head.
Post to Kijiji: Mint '98 Civic. Just needs a new motor.

Cheaper to get a used motor. Swap over your inj, plugs and wires.

PM'd, I've got a d16y8 block and head available. I wouldn't assume it's a valve issue unless proven with a leak down test.. either way it's probably cheaply replaced or rebuilt.

Um the next step after failing a dry test is a WET test which would further isolate the issue a bit (if PSI improves, it would likely mean your rings are gone).

Either way, it sounds like a swap or rebuild is on its way soon.

it'll be more cost effective to find a lower mileage used engine and swap it.
