    Y.

I feel bad for anyone born after me. The 90s and early 2000s were such a good time to grow up. Life was simple and you weren't controlled by electronics yet. I hate my phone, I want to go back. At least my childhood wasn't ruined like those today.

Interested to know where you came up with these year ranges? I am gen x by your accounts, but a millennial by Google.

I don't want to be considered a millennial, but I also don't want to be an old fart gen x

Gen Y. I also dislike being lumped in with the typical "millennials" haha.

Also extremely curious as to who the elementary school kid is. Or is it perhaps another baby boomer that hit the wrong button? :P

I'm sure back then, starting up conversation with the person next to you about the news was not considered weird.

While today, if I were to peek over at your phone and ask what's new, I am confident that a lot of the time I would get a surprised "why are you talking to me" look back.

Agreed and well said. I miss the days of riding my bike or walking to a friends house "is so and so home?" or "can so and so come out and play?"

Now everything is too instant and I'm just as guilty. Try to go for dinner and I'll review every damn restaurant in google maps first cause heaven forbid I try somewhere without reading about it first. Pathetic

People can opt not to use their smart phone for every thing, be spontaneous - drive by some burger place you've never seen and just stop in to try it out. Chances are you'll survive.

It is interesting to see how things have changed - when I was in my early 20's and dating a girl who lived 75 miles away from Calgary, well we only spoke usually once a week on the telephone as long distance telephone calls were quite expensive. Fast forward to today and I watch my kids text amazing amounts on a daily basis, in almost constant communication with the people they are dating. As a result, I think the dynamics of the relationships that people have now are quite a bit different than before the times of smart phones and text messaging - better or worse, it's difficult to say but my observations would seem to indicate that everything is at a much more heightened state, more raw.
    Will fuck off, again.

I do that... only if it has 3.5+.
(I see the place first and then look it up, rather than reverse)
