Enmax is already entirely owned by the city. It is obviously not private sector.

You know the city runs a ton of sport facilities, all basically at lower than cost (revenues barely cover operating expenses, and capital expenses are never factored in). How about this?

    Development permits?

    Garbage?

It's not like the city just runs police and fire.

My post wasn't an idea. It was to show that any other way we'd be paying the same or more, but hidden, which is silly. IIRC at some point the rules changed so that electricity and NG bills had to break everything down, which at the end of the day is probably the worst idea because nobody understands that crap.

First, it's not that I don't like Capitalism. It's Capitalism gone awry, corruption, and human rights violations that I DESPISE.

Second, the only viable solution to the oil pandemic, is nuclear. Store the waste until we figure out how to deal with it and come up with a viable alternative.

Other than that? You kill the problem at the source. Yes, babies

Well no, see if Enmax was publicly traded, then I could invest in it and get some of the dividends.

Invest in Transalta. They'll be making a mint of closing those coal plants.

Well, they are about 75% off the peak price. And dividend at current price is ~15% return. May not be a bad idea but the whole coal situation is just a drop in the bucket. They do have exposure to jurisdictions outside of Alberta as well.
