My gas and electricity bill for Oct:
Electricity:
Consumption: $29.68
Total charges: $76.05
Gas:
Consumption: $10.56
Total charges: $56.19
There's gotta be some "legal" fraud happening here.

Transmission and distribution charges = fraud.

I'm referring to the dollar amount of said charges, and not the charges in of themselves.Originally posted by BandW

You're paying for the infrastructure as well as the gas/power you are using. Everybody does. You know...maintenance on the infrastructure isnt free right?

Reasonable cost? I'd like to see the actual costs of new infrastructure and maintenance, and compare that to what consumers are being charged for such.Delivery company rates are regulated by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), an independent, quasi-judicial agency associated with Alberta Energy. The AUC holds rate hearings to ensure that customers receive safe and reliable service at a reasonable cost.

Is pretty much would you rather open or hidden costs? Would you feel better if your 'rate' was x3 bigger with no addons in the bill to better reflect the actual cost of getting the product to your home?
what about microgeneration tie in ? Enmax has been ripping people off too (people generating their own energy)..
Just keep paying those transmission surcharges you sheep. I wouldn't even question it. I'm sure they are doing what's right for the people of Alberta.

See the big fucking natural gas turbines/generators that produce your electricity?
Any idea how much one of them costs, then how much parts and labour cost on them?
I do...would make your eyes water
i was looking at this today while considering changing out my 1980's furnace for a new "high efficiency" furnace... i figure, whats the f'n point? i realistically pay like $5/mo for heating, gonna ride this old beast til she dies, a new one wouldn't even pay for its self in the lifespan...
