Default DINK communities, this needs to happen.

Was at the pub last night with a buddy and over a a few beers this somehow came up in conversion. There are lots of over 50s & 60s communities but there needs to be a DINK community where you would still have a double garage living and space (rather then condo living). My wife and I live in the burbs and find that we're pretty much the only ones on our street without kids. Thoughts?

That's actually a pretty good idea.

Dinks are hit and miss. Those without kids tend to lack patience and tolerance. Making a whole community around that idea could be risky.

Personally, I also prefer having kids in the community

Really though, if he likes the idea you can pretty much consider it done...

I don't see why it couldn't happen. There are apartment buildings in the city that ban people under 18 from residing there. It could easily be written into a strata agreement.

I think I would buy into something like that.

But adults with kids are even worse. They are oblivious to the world around them and expect everyone else to deal with whatever family drama they are creating at the time. There's nothing worse than trying to walk through a grocery store full of cows with 5 kids runningcircles around her, or being stuck on a flight with a screaming baby. Kids under 3 should be banned from flights.

I've been in the same house since 2000, and in our area, we went from lots of older kids, to a bunch of DINKS, and now back to families with kids. You wait long enough, your community will change.

So true, I'd say under 5 should be banned. But at the end of the day, can't drive to Disneyland.

I try not to go anywhere until the kids get older, but sometimes we have no choice. Funny, I used to deal with kids on flights with noise cancelling headphones, and I still use them, and get in complete shit when I don't even realize my kids are going nuts.

Can you recommend good headphones that cut out kid screams? I just have cheap Plane Quiet headphones, they work great for jet noise but not peoples voices.

BTW, you sound like a good and considerate parent (which is rare).

I don't think I have ever laughed this hard at a beyond post. This is amazing.

Or better yet, a private jet. Then not only could you ban kids, but also do rails during takeoff like motley crue.

It was awesome growing up with a bunch of kids and dinks on our block. We had a neighbour without kids who would let us play on his lawn ( his backyard was adjacent to our garage way ) and when we were playing hockey some of the dads/adult kids would join in.
