Proposed policy requiring major Calgary roads to have aboriginal names

I can't tell what's racist, me bringing up this article, or the fact that we're creating a rule to only allow First Nations names for any new freeways or expressways in Calgary (vs the old rule of "generally"). Not that there are any new ones planned, but imagine a new rule saying only white names are allowed for road names.

Wikipedia says Natives make up 3% of the province's population. I'd say this seems pretty stupid, but I honestly don't care... I rate this as being equally pointless to when they painted the crosswalk at City Hall to LGBT colors. Meaningless pandering it somehow make it seems like we're super inclusive.

Doesn't say First nations or Canadian aboriginal for that matter.
So how about Bouddi Blvd or Alinta Avenue (both aboriginal Australian names)?

He is one of the greatest hockey players of all time and edmonton is where he started so I don't really see a problem with that. We don't really have any people on the same level from here.

Personally I'd like to see some Canadian history as part of the naming conventions. There are many defining moments in Canadian history that are much better alternatives.

"Canadarm blvd"
"Louis Riel Ave"
"William Mackenzie Trail"
"Burntyourwhitehouse Grove"

etc.. etc..
