Sabine Schmitz and Chris Harris to join new Top Gear??

I just read it this morning..



"There have been a lot of fears that New Top Gear – the one without longtime hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May – just wouldn’t be the same. But now, the UK’s Telegraph is reporting that happy German racer lady Sabine Schmitz and happy British regular man (and recent Jalopnik columnist) Chris Harris are joining radio host Chris Evans on the cast.

And all of a sudden, it’s like we’re not afraid at all."

Sabine is pretty cool. She seems to have a good sense of humour, and brings some legitimacy to the go-fast bits.

So it's just a slightly better 5th Gear from the look of it.

I was not looking forward to watching Chris Evans. But Sabine and Chris Harris I would probably watch.

Reports have suggested the name for the show could be Gear Knobs, but neither Amazon nor Clarkson has commented on the speculation.

A Top Gear insider told The Sun: "Sabine and Chris are virtually unknown to the wider public and David isn't the most charismatic driver."

Are we sure this isn't a satire article?

I'd watch new Top Gear just for the potential to hear "Box full of neutrals" once more every week.

So many articles that speculate.

I think it would be a bad move for Chris Harris...he has a good thing going as a freelance writer, reporter, reviewer. Why give that up?

As for Sabine, she is a great driver, brings a wonderful presence to the screen, but I don't know if there would be any chemistry. After-all, it was the chemistry and friendships that made Top Gear into what it was....then the writers took over and scripted everything in a cheesy forced way

If Chris Harris really is coming on, I imagine that they'll give him quite a bit of leeway to be himself because Chris Harris can only be Chris Harris. He'll probably be easier to manage than Jeremy too, though watching him interact with Tiff at the end of his P1/LaFerrari/918 comparo seemed a bit disjointed and lacking in chemistry, so maybe not?

Skeptical of this article in general. Jeremy has outright stated that the new show will not be called Gear Knobs, a month or more ago.

Have you not seen episodes when Top Gear that we knew first started?

Netflix has some pretty old episodes of Top Gear. They are weirdly different.
