Most reservations and operations staff for AC are in Montreal. Aside from AMEs and furnishing employees you likely won't find anyone local, let alone on Beyond.

Bad in the sense that I don't want to pay $1000.00 to change flights to one that wasn't offered when I originally booked, you decide

Long story short, I booked a surprise trip to Disneyland for my daughters birthday in May. I found a better package after booking the following day, called Air Canada, they said since I booked through a travel site I would have to speak to them, then basically got hung up on. fine...

Called the travel company, was notified that the trip was still in pending process and wasn't ticketed yet so shouldn't be an issue, they do their thing and come back saying sorry, there will be the AC fee of $200.00/passenger to change it and there's nothing that can be done to avoid it. I ask about cancelling, I'm told to hold on while they see what they can do, waited on hold for a bit, they come back on the line and say that there are no refunds on this but they can offer a flight credit for the original party, BUT when I want to make a new reservation there would be a $200.00/person flight change fee

Note this is within the first 24 hours of booking

Not sure why AC would refer you to the travel site if you booked through their own online portal.

If you DIDNT, then youre at the mercy of the travel site. Buyer beware.

I read it as it was booked through a 3rd party site, then the next day Air Canada came out with a cheaper/better option.

I booked through the travel site yes but they are simply relaying what AC was stating to them... It has nothing to do with where it was booked

On Facebook, Air Canada confirmed the change fee being $200.00/person per direction

This is why I never book hotels or flights through a third party, once it's booked - you're stuck with it.

wouldnt it be pretty clearly stated on the travel site that any changes will be subject to airline policy?

What exactly is the issue? That seems like standard policy to me.

    $200 to change a flight?

Dunno about that, WestJet is typically free or like $50 if it isn't last minute

Negative, my sister just moved her flight to stay a few extra days in Calgary and was charged $250 with West Jet, its pretty standard practice. Especially on a flight plan with high demand.

Isn't it $X + difference in cost from what you paid and what it costs now? i.e. you lose the savings of the seat sale.

Westjet will quit often change your flight even at no charge. Air Canada always charges for this. This is why in Canada for business I always try to fly Westjet. It has helped me many times coming back from Vancouver.

The issue isn't really the change fee other than the cost, my issue is that I tried changing within the 24 hour cancellation period and was basically told tough shit even though
    1. The trip wasn't ticketed
    2. The trip wasn't confirmed
    3. When I asked about cancelling I was told I could only get a credit and when using that credit would be charged a $200.00 change fee per person (5 total/$1000.00)

Does the 24 hour cancellation period apply through a 3rd party site?

this is pretty standard I think. my friends and I tried to change some flights with American Airlines in November and it would've been $200/person USD change fee.

There is a large reservation call center in downtown Winnipeg.
