For the odd time you might need to haul something, why not buy a small utility trailer?
Wagon + Trailer = .......Profit?

^ I don't disagree at all. Another option is small SUV plus trailer.
They are like 20 bucks a day rental from U haul i think

Small SUVs are for women who are afraid of wagons. Any sort of half decent wagon was out of my price range.

It sits locked up in the alley tipped up on the tailgate. It takes up as much room as a garbage can and recycling bin. Understandably, this option won't work for everyone.Originally posted by killramos

I don't want to get into this whole thing because I guess I'm the only person who likes the look of a truck, and adds that into the equation as much as utility, but put me down for 3 Duramaxes that haven't been in the shop with problems.Originally posted by killramos
And I can't say i have every known someone with a duramax who didn't have it in the shop 2-3 times a year for one problem or another. So I'm going to take your "fairly reliable" remark with a grain of salt
A Ridgeline would be enough truck for me but I think it's ugly so I'm not going to buy one.

Get a truck and a van, problem solved
But seriously, we have 3 kids too, 1 in booster and 2 in front facing seats and it's a royal PITA to put them in the back of the Tundra compared to a van even with limo like room back there.
It's amusing to see that beyond has evolved to see these kinds of convos!
I'll put it out there that I own a first gen Ridgeline. I don't have a fifth wheel trailer, go off roading, nor do I work the trades that require a full size truck. I do camp with a tent trailer, cycle (road and mountain), do dump runs, the occasional home repair/project, haul my kids around to their sporting activities. I also use it as my daily driver. All in all it suits me just fine. I originally wanted a Tacoma (having owned a Toyota pickup prior), but I came across the Ridgeline for the right price and couldn't pass it up. What helped sell me on the Ridgeline too was the bonus of the in-bed storage. I'm sure I'd be happy with a Tacoma too if I ended up with one.
Some observations compared to real trucks:
-My buddy who drives a Ram 2500 Cummings long box, always gets me to drive when we go to downtown because he has a hard time finding parking/navigating his way around parking lots.
-I am able to get into some parkades without clearance issues.
-Because it's not a real truck people don't bother me when they need help moving
I am happy with it nor am I concerned about what other truck drivers think of it since I bought it to suit my personal needs - not theirs. I have nothing to compensate for either.

Calgary is so much like an iphone: iCalgary - There's a bylaw for that.
I like it! That is a great option for the average person who can use the utility of a truck bed for everyday home owner type stuff, but isn't into big towing or offroading, and still wants to retain the ride quality and usability of a family SUV.
There is a big market for this segment if a car company can tap into it and market it right.
Maybe that's why Honda gave it the name 'Ridgeline'. It's not a car, not a truck, but on the ridgeline of both slopes of vehicle classification.Originally posted by viff3r
It's funny how so many of you are concerned with identifying this truck as "not a truck". Not knowing the official definition of a truck, I'd say this Ridgeline (and the previous gen) is pretty trucky.
It's the perfect truck for people who think that they need a truck ..... but don't.

I currently drive a truck with an 8 foot box and topper because my current line of work requires it but I am actually considering a minivan or van because a sliding door or two in addition to rear access would certainly make loading and unloading tools and stuff a lot easier.
But I'm not sure if it should be at 80%, probably lower. Whatever the percentage, I would think that most people driving Raptors would fall into this category as well. Really, for many it's as much about people's wants as opposed to their needs and a great manufacturer's promotional campaign through whatever media can certainly ensure that people will buy a vehicle that certainly is far outside of the realm of what they really need - thus why the Raptor has probably sold so well. You can't tell me that 80% of the Raptors I see in Calgary have even ventured into anything even remotely resembling real off-road terrain - nope, they're grocery getters and such.
I think this suits me. I want one.
