    Default Monaco Grand Prix

So I am turning 30 in may and going to Morocco and Vienna during the last two weeks. what has intrigued me is a potential stop over in Nice which would allow me to attend the race on the sunday.

For those who have done it any advice? what sections of the grandstand to purchase?

I know its going to be expensive as race tickets are about 500 euros a person but its a once in a life time event.

    Thanks in advance

It's not the race tickets I would be concerned about. It's the accommodations, food, etc. while you are there.

As for advice? It's Monaco, bring your credit card

just price it all out in advance so you know what you are getting yourself into, price out every detail. If you are comfortable with the costs then power to you.

Take the bus from Nice port to Monaco, such a nice scenic route.

    This,
I stay in Nice and took the train to and from Monaco.
Train is faster than the bus. Just get there early on race day.

Monaco isn't the bast place to watch a F1 race. But it's sure was a cool experience. I watch from the grandstands over looking all the yachts.
On Firday, there isn't any F1 cars on track. There are others races and it's open to the public.

Lots of eye candy there. Good way to feel poor.

Ya this was kind of a spur of the moment decision. I am in Morocco till the Friday and the flights worked out that I would be in Nice on Saturday then out on the Monday to the Wife's home town of Vienna. I was amazed how many of the seat categories are already sold out which is probably what prompted me to pull the trigger and buy a couple.

I have never been to a F1 Race before but am a massive F1 Fan so the chance to see the Monaco Grand Prix was something I jumped at.

I was at the GP last year in Monte Carlo. Bring ear plugs or even better noise cancelling ear muffs.

Make a reservation at Lo Sfizio for a very great and casual Italian meal.

I stayed in Monte Carlo so I can't comment on getting in and out of the city but from what I hear it's not an easy transfer during race day. Maybe shell out some extra $$$ and just take a helicopter from Nice...

Afterwards you can hit up one of the bars and then nightclubs for a real party. Traffic back to Nice after midnight should be easy going.

With all the race blockades up getting around Monte Carlo during the GP is a pita.

    Enjoy the GP!

I'm extremely jealous... Would love to do this one day. My favorite track on the F1 calendar and an absolutely legendary race.

It wasn't that big of a deal coming from Nice to Monaco by train. Ya, little busier than normal but not to bad.

But if you can, staying in Monaco would be ideal.

Ya looked into staying in Monaco but looks like its mostly sold out except some 6K rooms per night and I am not that baller.

I figure train or buss will do for that price.

I went to the Monaco F1 for my Honeymoon. We stayed in Nice and took the train to Monaco. We stayed here:

    https://www.nicepebbles.com/nice-fra...t/rentals/250/

Very clean, good location in the old part of town (near restaurants, Promenade d'anglais, markets, train station, etc.). It was a good price, nice room with the bedroom on a mezzanine. Only complaint would be the bedroom had a low ceiling but otherwise couldn't ask for more. We also got to take in the Cannes film festival.

For the race I had tickets for section K facing the harbour. Decent seats but like any F1 event I have been to you really only see a small part of the race and then watch it on the big screen. The new F1 cars are not that loud. We only needed earplugs for the Formula 3000 cars and Porsche Cup cars. I managed to find tickets for qualifying in Casino Square on eBay. I won the auction while I was already in Nice and met the guy at his hotel to pick them up. Something to consider if you are having trouble getting tickets. We also booked a tour of the area and our driver drove the track before the race took place. Since it's a public road they open it up when the race is not going on. Highly recommend driving the track if you can. Going through the tunnel and out past the grandstands is cool.

Not loud? What year did you go? I remember when I went to montreal in 2012 it was incredibly loud but the new engines are much much quieter

I went to the races in Abu Dhabi when Vettel won his first championship. I wore earplugs and headphones for that race and still the cars were loud when they went past the stands. In Monoco the cars had the new turbocharged engines and they were much quieter. Didn't sound like F1 any more.

I stood 3-5m away from the current cars on the straight and my ears were fine. GP2 and Porsche Cup cars are way louder. You still need earplugs for those if you are close.

Wish I got to hear the V8's though.

Good choice on biting the bullet and buying tickets. Would love to do this!
