Temporary transactions show up online and can change when posted.
It's like pre authorization when you fill up. It shows up as $80 then 74.93 for example.
ya but it shouldn't exceed the pre-authorized amount thoughOriginally posted by flipstah

trying is the first step towards failure
AFAIK a transaction can't change after being posted. At that point you need to file a dispute for anything to change.
Pending transactions can change wildly before they post though. As I learned when my credit card was stolen in Vegas, bars and strip clubs will pre-auth huge amounts on the card, and then when it posts it can be far less. Also sometimes you will see $1.00 pending charges that disappear, which is just the merchant checking if it's a valid CC. Prepaying for gas is another example of the pre-auth amount changing to the amount on your receipt after it posts.
$10 tip. She love you short time?

Jesus christ, a legitimate question gets posted and out come the 14 year olds. Ha! funny guys!
So the original 10$ was on your transaction statement, then when you looked again the same transaction jumped to 12$? I would contact the bank, they would 100% have a transaction history that would verify that. I wouldn't care if its 2$ or 0.10$, if you agreed to a price they shouldnt be able to change it

worst part is definitely when the dudes smacking it with his dick like that inside out anus owes his dick some money.
Transactions can change...
Pre-auth turns in to a final transaction (think of eating at a restaurant back in the days when you swiped, tip added after receipt printed, or staying at a hotel where they do a pre-auth to cover for damages and stuff).
Now what is odd if it was actually posted since when posted they are finalized transactions... If it changed after being posted that is incredibly odd and I would contact the bank as this may be their error, or the merchant may have called and done something afterwards saying the posted amount was incorrect and then sent some kind of proof.
Either way, even though it's 2 bucks, I'd be concerned about a bigger error and wondering if it's happening more often than just that one incident. I'd call to make sure that other transactions aren't changing after being posted.

They'll ask for a receipt. That's one way to verify that when you paid matches when it was processed.Originally posted by chkolny541
