Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern have been confirmed as new cast members.

It might be almost two years until it hits cinemas, but as Star Wars Episode 8 begins filming, it has been confirmed that Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern have joined the cast.

And while it isn’t clear who the newcomers will play, it’s been long rumoured that Del Toro will star as a villain – after he previously met with JJ Abrams before Episode 7 went into production.

Del Toro is going to be one of the Knights of Ren, at least according to rumours. Rather than just some First Order officer or the like. Should be sweet, not sure the guy knows how to do a bad role.

I was always under the impression that all the Skellig Michael stuff was shot as a part of the Episode VII filming but I guess I was wrong. After all the hooplah about getting their for the one shot I would have thought they'd try to keep their time there to a minimum. But this is Star Wars with Disney money so I guess they could always just buy them another Historic Site if they mess it up too much.
