I'm not saying it did or did not work, but your view of what allowed the USA to get to where it has been the past half century is remarkably narrow.

I'm actually pretty impressed that Europe rebuilt as fast as it did.

If you look at post WWII pictures of London, I would have thought that was a solid century of progress wiped of the map.

US? The major loss that the US had was losing the war of 1812, of which there was very little bloodshed in itself and only a building loss of the White House.

War was not really "good" for the US, arguably - it was just that much worse for everyone else, which made the US look better even if standing still.

Honestly though, only slightly losing ground in this current economic climate is not all that bad - Considering the alternative of the US getting EMP blasted and reverting 300 years.

BTW: Debt is not a bad thing.

Somewhere around the 1970's the US dollar was mandated to become a symbol of wealth to become a symbol of debt wealth.

You are not going to become president without spending at least $100 million (Jeb Bush, spent $130 million US and finally gave up) Arguably, you could say that Donald Trump has spent $900 million to get to where he is today.

Nowadays, the public cherishes those who pay a round for the house and when it comes time to pay the bill, blame it on the foreign guy and make him pay.

At least in North America. There are parts of the world where they actually produce high quality goods at low prices and sell them at a reasonable price. You know, like the US used to be, a productive high quality producer back before 1970. There is only one product that I can think of that the US produces today that is of high quality, that being the US nickel (not cars, not porn, not military goods)

As to which system is "better" is just a matter of preference. But usually the one that is a "dishonest dollar" requires invasion of other nations to keep itself running.

BTW: In a straight up fight in a world war, the US has the most to lose.
