Did you enable DPI? If so, the USG can't handle high speeds with that enabled.
    Nope. DPI is disabled.

I am betting this is enabled. Even on my UDM pro i see speed decreases with DPI on.

Even the baby USG should have no problem negotiating over a gigabit of traffic.

You don’t have their intrusion prevention system enabled do you? On USG3 it doesn’t have enough horsepower to do much more than 100 mbps of traffic when IPS is enabled.

DPI isn’t nearly as big of an issue as IPS is.
I had the IPS enabled. I just disabled it and I can the difference in speeds 254/263

Mine is enabled. I should turn it off and see if I get over 800.

Bunch of wifi bandwidth whores lol. I guess if you're not wired through the house and wifi is your only choice, it's quite important. I have everything bandwidth heavy wired and only seldom be on wifi with a need of huge transfer speeds.

Have you tried connecting directly to the ONT? I would start there.
Only One of the LAN port is open on the ONT and all other LAN ports are disabled. Called Telus to see whether they will open up one of the LAN ports and the answer is No.

I ended up buying a Gen2 POE switch, but the non pro 24 port version. I don't think I need L3 capabilities or any of the other things the "pro" comes with. If I need more ports, I'll buy a new switch.

Mad jelly. Though i have literally no reason why I need a gen 2 switch haha.

Really want to set up my home rack and get a UDM Pro next time they are in stock.

they were in stock for less than a day when i got mine. I think the Gen2 switch will only be in stock for a day or two as well. My only real concern is the 120w poe budget. But I think I should be okay.

Getting a bit irritated with this whole hand-off between APs. The two devices in my Unifi controller are, Flex-HD on the main floor. AC-LITE in the basement. I've played around countless times with radio power and minimum RSSI, but there doesn't seem to be a sweet spot. If I have all radios set to low, devices in basement connect to basement AP, and if I move upstairs they (more often than not) connect to the main floor AP. On the second floor though, I don't get any wifi signal. If I bump up the transmit power on the main floor AP, I get signal on the send floor, but I run in to issues where devices in basement connect to main floor, and main floor devices connect to basement. My iPad on the 2nd floor is connected to the basement AP for example.

1400 sq. ft. 2 story house, should I just only be using 1 AP? That's what I had before with a Meraki MR33 on the main floor, but the signal and speed in the basement and 2nd floor weren't impressive. 1 AP per floor seems a bit overkill, but is that the only way I can have every radio set to low power and each AP more or less handles its own floor?

Kind of the other end of the spectrum, but for an Asus aimesh system, if adding a node, would you bother getting the "AX" wifi 6 hardware or nah?
Rt-ax88u is about same price as the RT-AC5300.

I really have the itch to add to my network.

I would say 1 AP per floor is what you want if they are placed centrally.

More if you the AP’s aren’t central.

You're literally asking the radio waves to do something different on the top floor vs basement. Choose your poison, either single AP to cover everything and live with the drawbacks, or have one AP per floor.

Now that I've played with roaming behaviour on the UniFi, it's exactly as intended and works like every other site with proper roaming setup. Bonus is my exact level settings seems to work perfectly, maintaining the same transition/roam points. I didn't touch the RSSI method at all. For reference, I'm running a paltry 15-17dbm on the 5ghz radios depending on location.

I have a spare BNIB AC-Lite. Stupid 5 packs. Will let it go cheap if you choose the latter. There's my sales pitch haha.

That's my exact setup. I have 2 per floor with 1 in the basement centrally. Each one covers an active area of the house.

I need to tune things I guess. I slapped an AP Pro on the top floor and one on the main floor, plugged them in 4 years ago, and then haven't looked at them. My living space is 5500 sq or so, so I wonder if I should put up a third one in the basement and do some tuning. I've got an extra one in the closet.
