Are they doing their wrong password junk?
Try setting the DTIM to 3 and turn off fast roaming.

I have found nest cams absolutely hate auto optimize network turned on since the 6 series and perform better with multicast off.

I am not having issues on the latest firmware and have nest cams and about 40 iot devices (every single light switch min my house is iot now).

Nope, just sporadic drop outs. I don't have auto optimize network, multicast, or fast roaming enabled. DTIM is set to auto is the only difference with you. That said, as soon as I downgraded back to 5.2.49 everything magically went back to normal. The biggest one was HomeKit garage door opener, that thing has been on and off flaky for the 2 weeks after I upgraded. Kept failing to open/close using CarPlay. Was perfectly responsive instantly after it went back on firmware.

The dropouts look like this in Nest history:

I'm in 6.5.28 with no issues like that. Biggest issue I have is that my phone refuses to roam, so it'll hold connection to a single AP as I roam the house, and I need to disconnect/reconnect for it to move over to a closer/stronger one.

Not sure what it’s called in unifi but do you have access point / band steering enabled?

No, I have band steering disabled. I even have min RSSI setup, so it should drop if the signal is garbage.

Weird. Most of my wifi is default out of the box.

This is me going up and down the stairs last night. Seamless. I've been on MS Teams calls where I go from my car on LTE, connect to the Garage AP, then the Upper Den, then family IW, then the Network LR without missing a beat.

Touching wifi settings is usually a bad idea.

Roaming decisions is handled by the client. Everyone has different criteria for triggering a roam which makes it really difficult to tune your network to optimize for everything. Apple has documents that help you tune AP power settings for their devices so it roams cleanly.

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203068
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206207

Find a similar doc for your device to figure out why it refuses to roam in your environment. Some devices (I’m pointing at you Nintendo switch) won’t trigger a roam even when signal strength is so low it can’t even maintain pings. A reboot is needed for it to grab the strongest signal.

Unifi at some point had a way to force roam by knocking devices off and blocking it from connecting to weak APs but I think they’ve abandoned that feature as it introduced way more issues.

So, I looked it up, and my phone manufacturer has nothing, but reddit is filled with complains that roaming is broken/doesn't work. So I guess it's my phone and not my wifi. Also, apparently the nintendo switch is notoriously awful for roaming.

I called it out for that reason. We have 3 at home and nobody could play against each other ever. Originally had everyone reboot but even then sometimes it connects to the wrong AP. Current solution is a unique ssid with an ap group of 1 AP (living room) which is central enough it works in half the house and all switches use that.

I'm going to be changing to privacy glass on my front door setup shortly. Is there a good way to add a tablet to the wall near the door so that when someone rings the unifi doorbell, it pops up automatically on that tablet so we can see who is on the other side of the door? Like a big peep hole.

Could do it always on with their HDMI adapter?

Getting it to trigger when the doorbell is pressed sounds like will require a fair bit more customization

Hey, what's everyone running for wifi Mesh system? I have Telus at home with their Mesh hubs which just sucked as I have about 25 to 30 wifi devices contracted at any time.

I tried the TP-Link AX1800, which sucked, so I'm considering getting the Google Nest Router with 2 points.

Step 1, find this thread. You’ve accomplished that.

Step 2, read the first post which I’ve summarized everything up to 3 years ago and mostly still holds true.

Step 3, all your detailed answers are in this thread.

Buy Unifi Dream Machine. Get AP if necessary.

New kid in town. May be some competition to Ubiquiti. Alta Labs. Some ex-ubiquiti peeps running it.

Personally, I love me some Ubiquiti APs and switches. Dunno why all the hard ons for the dream machine and cameras though.

I haven’t bothered to hook my unifi shit up since I moved.

The new Telus stuff is pretty damn good

Anyone using Ubiquiti security cameras? It's annoying that you have to step up to an AI Bullet to get a black bodied camera.

Anyone tried TP Link Omada or Deco?

They seem to perform well at a better price point compared to Unifi.
