Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
I'm test driving the 340i M Sport & 550i M Sport tomorrow.
The Q50s is by far the most affordable.
I drove a 550i X-drive two weekends ago back to back with a S6 - if you are looking at a 550i, you should drive an S6 as well. Fastest car I have ever driven, and one of the nicest. The 550i did not feel fast nor did it feel like it had the kind of HP it does. It's surprisingly slow for it's rated HP. Nice car no doubt but there is better in that range IMHO. I assume you'd be looking at used ones because they are closer to the $100K range than the Q50 is.Originally posted by 89coupe

I have friends who have owned Audi's and they seem to always have problems.
Forget the 550i too if you are worried about owning a $60K+ car off warranty and look at Lexus.Originally posted by 89coupe

I've read that n63tu motor 7/2013 with 445hp and latter is solid.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

Test drove the 340i M Sport today and a 2013 550i M Sport. Was not impressed with the 340i at all. About the only positive was the transmission, nice up shifts, but downshifts seemed to be non existent, even in Sport+ mode.
Also noticed a lot of body roll.
The 550i I enjoyed more, even though it was a bigger, heavier car, it seem to handle better. Both cars seemed very similar in acceleration.
The Infiniti still seems better for the most part. I preferred the more aggressive shifts of the BMW, but preferred the much more responsive and aggressive downshifts/rev matching of the Infiniti.
The Infiniti felt more powerful then both BMW's but would need to get both vehicles out on the highway at the same time to confirm.
Next car to test is a 2014 Audi S6
This should be in a whole different ballpark at least power wise compared to the cars tested so far. I think it could be underrated at 420hp.Originally posted by 89coupe

The S6 feels and is a lot faster than the 550i. The 550i also felt slow to me given it's power ratings. It's well known S6 power is under rated, as it is as fast as the M and AMG cars.
By far the best car I have driven in recent memory, for my tastes anyway. Engine and transmission (DCT) are pretty amazing. It's actually a relative bargain compared to a lot of cars in it's class IMO. Better interior than most. It won't be the very best handler though, and it isn't small.

If you think a S6 is anywhere near a E63S in performance, you really need to drive one. I would be surprised if you can find any car magazine tests where it's even close in 1/4 mile. Maybe 0-60 might be close with a better launch setup on the S6.
Don't get me wrong, the BMW 550, Audi S6, E550, they're all quick cars, not knocking the performance. But the M5 and E63S are in their own league.

I haven't driven an E63S yet but I would love to. Is the only way to get them now in "S" trim? I thought you could get a regular E63 too which was not quite as quick. I wasn't thinking of the "S" model but I see that one is certainly faster.Originally posted by rage2

C&D got the M5 to do 0-60 in 3.7 and 1/4 mile at 12.0, and the S6 to to 0-60 in 3.7 and the 1/4 mile in 12.1. Those are the numbers that initially impressed me with the "cheaper" S6. I'm sure on a track the M5 would destroy it, but for the average driver who doesn't leave the city, that's pretty good performance for the money IMO. There are a few used ones kicking around for $60-70K.
When I hop into one of these cars from my Civic, I feel like I'm in a rocket ship, then when I drive home after I feel sad

$65k full loaded tax included?
The Q50s with 400hp is only $62k fully loaded all taxes included.
Do any of the other cars in this price range make 400hp?

I'm waiting for the Audi dealership to prep the S6 for me. Went and looked at it on the weekend, drool, so nice. Hopefully it drives as nice as it looks and feels.Originally posted by redline
