What a bad idea for qualifying. There is a theory of potential rivalry and shootout for pole, but in practice, the new qualifying process is pretty lame.

Would be interested to see what Rage2 has to say......I have a feeling he was holding back in his previous post

I liked Q1 and bits of Q2. Q3 was a mess. Did not expect that strategy at all but it makes sense now that we look back.

I personally wanted to see Q1 using new method, Q2 using hybrid method (same as new method but allowed to complete lap if you pass finish before clock), and Q3 old method.

This was discussed today by the F1 team heads, and they just said fuck it, too much complexity for fans, not sure if it will work, so they're going back to the old qualifying for next race. RIP 2016 new quali format after 1 race.
