    Default Dash cam updates

Searched the forum and there hasn't been any recent posts on the latest and greatest in the world of dash cams. Wondering what everyone is using out there.

    Thanks in advance.

Why'd you stop using the Ojocam? I'm still using my Ojocam Pro from the original thread.

I'm using this one in my Mini:

    http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX53238

Just picked the cam up today. Simple to use, excellent quality, and great features. Reviews online were really good too.

I still have my ojocam pro2 in my RX. I tried to buy a replacement mount for the pro2 that came out of my Cayman, but the dicks at Ojocam wouldn't sell me one. Canceled my order and never told me why, so just said fuck it and bought a new one.

May buy an upgrade for the RX and well. The DOD came seems to be better than the ojocam pro2. Only thing is that it is also bigger than the OJC P2.

Ditto, still using the Ojocam Pro2 that I got. No complaints at all, its been awesome.

I'm almost disappointed to hear that its going out of date...I love how its super compact, and virtually invisible.

i have ordered a couple of these ones, the only negative i can come up with is that they are mini usb not micro usb so i had to put in a new wire for it.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/A118...d-adf8e5834145

but i am tempted to try this one because its a similar low profile and "factory" looking install, but this one has wifi to connect to your mobile device, it'd be nice to pull in the garage and have the videos auto upload to my home machine (not sure if it has this functionality, just my wishlist), then the SD card will no longer be the limitation (and i wont forget the SD card or the camera inside when i pull it out to grab the footage)

Don't get A118 because A119 is out. Only get A118 if you want to save a few bucks.

    http://www.gearbest.com/car-dvr/pp_392247.html

From the sample videos, A119 looks great. You can easily capture plates will good distance from all 3 lanes. Something current 1080p dash cam is hard to do.

EDIT: I guess the A118 in your link is different then the A118 I had in mind. That's way more streamlined against the rear view mirror.

    What's $25US but a few bucks to get 1440p.

Btw, how do you get a 5v usb to dash cam? Does the 118 provide some sort of step down if I do a fuse tap?

My DR400 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

typically they come with a cig lighter plug, you can disassemble it for a step down converter

I personally buy one of these, and find power in the dome light, and run a 1ft USb cord no running wires everywhere and its easy to change the USB cord if i switch mini/micro/maybe eventually usb C

i went a119 as well. got it from amazon.ca for about $120 not long ago. keep in mind there's a119s (sony part) coming out soon if you want better night quality. there is also a CPL filter coming out if you want to reduce glare by using a polarizing filter.

I'm using a Mini 0801 from years ago, and am waiting on an A118 to come in for the GFs car, <$100 I'd say A118/9, or Mini 0805 would be your best bets.

I've been using this one for a few months now and I love it, I've had about 7 different cameras since 2009 and this one is the best one yet. The only thing I don't like is it does't rotate from right to left. The wifi was a bit of a struggle to set up originally but it works great. I paid $130 shipped to Canada in 5 days plus $20 for duty. I planned on getting another one but the store on Aliexpress that I got it from is closed now. I did just get my second camera for my bicycle today and it too has wifi along with a remote, just playing with it now and so far so good. I'll be testing it out on tomorrows ride to work, I plan on mounting it beside my Rideye to see which one is better. Going back to the Autobot; I like the size and being able to quickly remove it from the mount is good because the biggest problem I've had over the years was the sun beating down on the camera all day long. The Autobot broadcasts a wifi signal that your phone connects to so you can view and download the video at anytime.

Wait why does it need to rotate right to left?
And what have you been doing with all your old cameras...

i dont think it needs to rotate, but it definitely would be helpful with some installs just to get the angle exactly where you want it
