I just bought a pair of the Viofo A119s with filters(sold separately) for my cars, they seen solid, good quality and reasonably price,d you can get em for $127 on lightning deals on amazon sometimes

    https://www.amazon.ca/Official-VIOFO...ds=viofo+a119s
bought the same cam to replace an aging Blackvue. How are the filters and do they work well?

it seems to be like a polarising effect on glasses, reduced glare, gives more contrast, not sure if its critical but the video looks a lot nicer.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

I also bought this dashcam two months ago. Been happy with it so far. At first I didn't order the CPL filter and the glare from my dash was pretty bad.

    Here is a without filter:

    and here's with filter:

Here's 2 images, First has the filter ON, second is the filter OFF

You can see the filter actually helps a lot at night, reduces a lot of glare and gives added contrast

I picked up the version without GPS for $108 when you posted it on RFD
    https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01MDPB7CS/

Very happy with it so far, the only thing is the cigarette lighter adapter is a bit finicky, so it popped out a couple times until I rotated it 90° which seems to be holding firmly.

Pulled the trigger on 2 G1W-S. Figured I would try it out as all the review sites say its the best bang for buck.

I have been thinking about getting the G1W-S for the wife's car but it looks so big.. Looks like it would stick out. The last thing I want is for someone to break into my car for a 80$ camera

Is there anyway to conceal it?

It's actually not. Exact same form factor was the other G1W series

Im tempted to get a cheapo one for a rear view. I've nearly been rear ended 4 times this year.

    Bump!
In the market for 3 budget dash cams, what are people using nowadays?
Been thinking about the new G1W-S from Viofo but the forums seem to suggest that it may have an issue alerting of a full/dead memory card. Too big of an issue for me to consider that one right now
I have the G1W-C (capacitor battery instead of traditional). Been working for past 4 years strong, no issues at all. Been using a Adata 32GB card on it. For $49, its performed awesome for the price. But I'll be upgrading to a Blacksys CH200B soon.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

Did you find that if you didn't start the camera after a couple days that it would lose the date setting?
Seems to be the biggest complaint that people have with capacitor cameras. I'm coming from an old school DVR207 so I never had this issue

Yeah I've heard of that but it hasn't happened to me yet as I drive everyday to work and weekends go grab groceries. If it does lose the date, its not a biggie, put it back in. Like 1 min of your time. But otherwise, $49 for 1080P recording. Good deal.
