I expected the Chinese cooking guy to at least wash the rice first.
My wife never does the finger measurement but she's not Chinese so I dunno?
Sig nuked by mod.
I used to use the finger measurement all the time until we bought a tiger. Also, old skool Chinese folk don't wash the rice or they just do a quick rinse cause they think it washes the nutrients away. I'm totally the Chinese cook, never measure anything and just eyeball it, but we don't use MSG. Maybe that's why the wife complains all the time that my cooking isn't consistent haha, seems fine to me!

I'd say most hongers wash their rice. Maybe the poor deeper mainlander villagers don't.Originally posted by botox

Hahah I've made rice since I was 7 or 8 and I don't know about the finger thing.
I agreed finger measurement is very common in Asian cooking culture. That couldn't be seen anywhere else.
