Enbridge? I would imagine they would be downsizing a bit after not going ahead with northern gateway and also buying spectra energy, although I've heard nothing from my friends who work for enbridge (in edm)Originally posted by Euro838
Right now...as in till about 11 am this morning, ppl are being told to stay at their desks to await their fates at a certain large pipeline corporation.....
Sunjet is contracted to provide that service I think so they will either need to find a new firm to contract too or face up to the reality of the situation. Should be interesting as im due to fly out of their for the first time next tuesday.Originally posted by craigcd
Changes coming to Suncors aviation department also. No idea how many people, it was in the Herald yesterday.
I've heard from a friend at Enbridge a couple weeks back that they were planning another round soon. So that makes sense.
Heard its TCPL today. Enbridge employees get to stress out another day.Originally posted by cjblair

Supposedly a 2 day layoff. Mostly due to them buying Columbia Pipelines. Maybe most of the layoffs with be south of the border?

Not Enbridge (at least in Calgary), that day is looming - likely fall sometime
Didn't make it to the DD side, I think I would have been there not long after the downturn happened, but yeah, that plan went south real quick. Somedays I really miss being out there, but it's probably just nostalgia.Originally posted by msommers
Wow that's a big shift! Glad to hear the change has gone well though. Weren't you DDing before?
Don't be overly impressed - I'm managing a bar.. It has been a wild (and fun!) shift to a completely different lifestyle, that's for sure. I enjoyed bartending before I went into the oil business, so it was the first thing I thought of when I got laid off. Being a little bit more clever than the average restaurant bro, and meeting the right people, I've moved up pretty quickly.Originally posted by vengie
What kind of schooling/ background do you have to enable such a large shift??
Finance? Trades?
Has opened up a world of entrepreneurial opportunities that I hope to take advantage of, plenty of money to be made in this city if you keep your head on a swivel and work hard. Not quite making that max_boost P-car money yet, but who knows.

DOES ANYONE NEED A GO-JUICE?
Long run had extremely high comp packages for employees. One of the highest paid group for people under skilled. Extremely poorly managed company and management.
That and Bill Andrews doesn't have the best track record...Originally posted by KappaSigma

Thanks for shout out but whatever money I had, my gf has pretty much spent it all.Originally posted by adamc

After my days in Calgary are over, my gf and I plan to move to Toronto for a change of scenery. The only thing keeping me here is this restaurant.
