Just look after your grass properly and you won't have weeds to begin with.
My vote is Green Drop, but only because I hired 'em for this year.Originally posted by vtec96

We have been with Nutrilawn for a few years and quite happy with everything
I did the very same last year. They were doing cold calls and offered a deal of 5 applications for $199. So I took them up on it. My lawn is the best it's ever been. EVER. And I've done the whole "de-thatching, power rake, aerate, fertilizer etc. But I dont keep up with the fertilizer and nutrients. They do.Originally posted by A790

Sure I can do it myself for a lot cheaper but I never do. I want to renew this year but now they want $259 for the same service.
I won't though unless they honour the same deal as last year. I've been dropping my rates like everyone else...so can they.
They came door to door. $220 taxes in for four services and unlimited weed control. I'll be calling them for my first weed control next weekOriginally posted by C_Dave45

I buy a bag of fertilizer from Costco for $29 and apply it after every mow. 5 years now, no weeds.
Whelp, I put down 4 yards of soil last year and am trying to get my lawn back to where it was. Big sections of just dirt that I have overseeded.Originally posted by 89coupe

Of course, a bunch of weeds have decided to move in and set up shop. I suppose I could go around every few weeks and kill them all. Or, I could hire Green Drop for a couple hundred of bucks and have someone do it for me...
Option B, please!

I have done both Green Drop and store bought fertilizers. I find either way can yield good result. However one can do all they want but if you don't water the grass consistently then grass die and weed take over. Key is to keep lawn healthy and strong to crowd out the weeds.
I will see if one of the companies can offer a good deal.
I'm looking for a service as well, do any of those companies automatically enroll you every year?
I just received something in the mail from hometurf. $269 includes 4 fertilization, 3 weed control and aeration and overfeeding
I've been with Weedman for 5 years. Good service...no weeds and my quotes are constantly $60 cheaper than Nutralawn or Green drop.

I hired Weedman last year. The back yard looked fantastic but they destroyed my front lawn! It dried up and all the grass died. I contacted them right away for them to review what they had done. They came back to me asking if I had fertilized it as well which killed the grass? Or if I had any enemies in the neighborhood that would have spilled gas on it? They then stated that it could be a grass disease that does this (even though the whole back yard was mint, and my neighbors grass was still alive).
In the end they denied any responsibility and said they would do a top seed as a free service in hopes that the grass would grow back this year. But they would not pay for any re-sodding. So I canceled my service with them right away and am now getting quotes to replace the whole front.
While every individual has a different experience, once you hire the company you will need to keep on top of your lawn to may sure that nothing goes wrong.

Dawn is the best time they say? I know people who have sprinkler systems in our street have the greener lawn as they don't forget.
Oh what do you guys do with the giant thistles? On the grass they are smaller but ones in the flower beds grow to couple feet tall if you don't de root them early. I guess healthy grass might block them out. As for the flower/veggie bed can't really put in any chemicals.

I was watering in the evening, but after the first call to Weedman, they asked if I could water in the morning before the sun came out. So I did, with no results.Originally posted by Cos
Just a thought but did you change how you watered the front? I know my place gets afternoon sun in the front so the watering I have to do is different than my back.
