    Default VPN Recommendation

Looking for a VPN recommendation with good speeds. Currently using TorGuard but their speeds for most of the day is pretty bad.

Some of their servers are getting me 95ms ping and 2 Mbps vs 2ms and 93 Mbps when it is off.

    I personally use NordVPN.

Thanks for that link, very interesting information.

I have used WiTopia for the past 3 years or so, been happy with it. They don't allow torrenting on it, but I only use it to encrypt public wifi (and used to use it for netflix when needed, which no longer works).

Upon reading the info provided, I may have to shop around again. I liked WiTopia based on their business model, and apparent lack of paid false promotion on review sites.

Any particular reasons you chose NordVPN?

I've been searching everywhere for a VPN that works with netflix... these are the only guys I could find. Amazing, nice little piece of software. Definitely check it out -

Like the OP I was using torguard and it has been pretty weak lately.. slow speeds high latency etc.

I switched to Windscribe as per zipdoa's recommendation and I'm laughing. I can max out my 100Mbps Telus line on all of their north american and european servers. Also, it works with Netflix as he said!!

    Heart this thread.

I've been using Astrill for a long time, it's very fast, my 250mbit connex tested on various servers is always reasonably fast for a VPN, but lately a lot of their servers have been screwy, and although every country/server has a Netflix working server, it can be a PITA as this is constantly changing and in flux. My Hulu server still works with them.

I think I'll try Zipoda's suggestion as my 6 month is up in a week with Astrill, for a month first and see how it goes.

Bumping this thread for some help.

I've moved to Boston and would love to catch the odd Flames game with my parents Shaw account, specifically using the FreeRange TV app.

Using TunnelBear for Android and my desktop, TSN works as do most others including SN1 however Sportsnet West doesn't and I get the message 'whoops, you've flown too far etc'. I tried using the Sportsnet Now app with my Shaw credentials, but it's the same deal.

Is it possible to connect to a Western Canada server? I don't mind paying an annual fee once I know it works, all of the free ones I've tried connect me to out east automatically.

Give WiTopia a try. I've been using it for years and can chose where you connect to. They have a server in Vancouver. I believe they have a 30 day money back policy, worst case you could jump on for a month to try it.

For those of you that use NORDVPN,

    what protocol do you use?

I've been trying to get good speeds but all servers I only get max 15mbps, including those in canada.

    I have a 150mbps connection.

ExpressVPN is what I have been using lately. No issues so far.
