Apparently half is on public sector wages. No cutbacks there.

So my buddy has his wages frozen at the moment, works for the u of c but I guess they are mostly funded by the govt. He said all salaried staff are on wage freezes but the union employees aren't frozen and will keep getting raises due to their prior contracts being in place. I guess that applies to govt employees too.

I have another friend who works as a surgeon for AHS and he guessed that his dept alone is worth about 1.5 billion of the total budget.

    Wild rose budget plan
Its all about cost cutting mainly GoA and AHS wages and number of people particularly consultants, most of the specialist doctors are consultants so would that mean 50% less doctors in our hospitals. I would of preferred to see them attempt to build some sort of revenue generating assets although I have no experience in what that could look like.

I am just hoping at this point that my teacher wife will start making Oil money and I can stay at home and be a house-husband.

At least you're diversified. I'm in EPC and my wife is in upstream O&G.

People who voted them in (primarily 18-23 year olds) will be starting their careers and realize how much their socialistic views fucking suck when they begin to actually contribute to society.

I remember having the pie in the sky dreams about the "rich paying for everything" since they can "spare it!" - then I got a career and realized the rich are smart to evade this shit, and poor assholes like me in the middle class get stuck picking up the bill.

I get a laugh watching the Bernie Sanders shit going on with all the kids rallying to him saying "FREE EDUCATION!"

Listen dick heads, by the time that shit gets implemented, you'll have a real job and you'll be paying for the next generations free education and feeling like you got screwed on your own beliefs.

✔ Reduce Government of Alberta (GoA) managerial ranks by 33 per cent

✔ Reduce AHS managers and consultants by 50 per cent

✔ Reduce GoA travel, advertising and conference budgets by 50 per cent

    ✔ Limit public executive pay

✔ Roll back Cabinet and MLA pay raises and reduce expenses

    ✔ Eliminate corporate grant subsidies

✔ Reinstate the 3-year salary freeze on remaining managers in GoA

The spending reductions will result in an immediate $2.2 billion in savings for this budget year, and $3.5 billion by 2017-18.
And not a single mention of front-line services layoffs and cuts.

It's tough to determine if the Wildrose would have ran on this same budget if they were in charge and didnt have to worry about an election for another 3-4 years. But damn, now THAT is a properly thought out budget.

And this is why I call bullshit. I just don't buy that we're SO inefficient that you can make such a large impact without any effect on front line services. They've been tearing into AHS and "reducing managers and non-front line staff" for the last decade.

The Wild Rose budget is great for where they are; the opposition. The place where pissed off people will look, but a budget that they'll never have to implement to piss off a bunch of other people.

I dunno, I knew someone in IT at AHS and he bragged about how his job was totally useless. Great pay though.

I've seen it in government too, wayyy too much overhead IMO. AHS is a disaster.

Now of course, I agree that I don't know if that budget is believable.

Get ready for a PST and a fuel surcharge, coming real soon! That will definitely effect guys like me even more. I'm down at LEAST 50% from last year, sales wise at this point. I know that has alot to do with oil prices, but alot of people are telling me their not spending anything because their literately afraid to spend. Hope it picks up soon cause I'm looking at layoffs as an inevitability at point.

God I fucking hate the NDP. And if you voted for the NDP. You need to give your dumbass head a shake. look at what you've done!
