    Default Minivan question

Does anyone know if the basic Dodge Caravan Canada Value pack for $21,895 folds completely flat in the back? Second-row bench seat with third-row Stow 'n GoŽ 60/40 split-folding seats with tailgate seating

or do you need the SXT model $27,095 2nd-row Super Stow 'n Go seating and 3rd-row 60/40 split-folding Stow 'n GoŽ seats with tailgate seating

Any other options I should be looking into? Looking for cheap and new and the CVP seems to fit both.

    See pic. Thanks.

I was the lot guy at Dodge last year and yup, the CVP has the folding flat 3rd row like ever other van but the bench seat in the second row. You do need to move up one trim to get the captains chairs stow and go in the second row.

A lot of people I'm told just yank the 2nd row and flip up the 3rd row if they need extra seating. Check used inventory for 2015 models with like 5000 or less kms though. Make sure it's not a rental and they're pretty good still.

Hard to beat that price though. $325 per month lease over 48 months

It can fall apart and no care given.

    This is for work.

Yeah the Odyssey is a nice unit.

If it's for work though, then yeah the Dodge all the way

How much fucking ginger beef do you deliver?

    Dude the Odyssey is $30k.

Also, the Transit Connect is 27k, and a great little vehicle. Low fleet operation costs for those deliveries.

You'll definitely need a new user title when you start rolling in a soccer mom can. I don't know of any bullies behind the wheel of a caravan.

I dunno, I just went to honda.ca and found $32,656 which includes MSRP+freight, delivery and levies.
The 48 month lease that pops up for me is $91.85/wk, which is $398/mo.
Maybe put in a poorer postal code?

Even on a honda you can negotiate $2k off. Unless you are InRich.

I know the Dodge is cheaper, but it's also much cheaper. Suspect over four years you aren't money-ahead buying it, but hey, I'm not an economist.

It depends on how you do your TCO calcs. The Dodge you'll pay 325/month and likely have 0 equity at the end. The Odyssey you may be able to sell instead of giving back to dealer and come out even or ahead with that 325/month.

When we bought out our Odyssey we had at least $5k equity in it. But, if it's used for deliveries and kms are really high that may be a different story.

Didn't realize you can get an Odyssey for the price. Is that base model? If the price difference is that little then no brainer, go Honda.

A lot of folks choose to buy the $50k Odyssey, but yes, a base model can be had for around $30k.
Plus, that's the exact same engine and transmission. Sure you don't get the entertainment system or leather, but a couple of tablets is both cheaper and more functional, and for kids, aftermarket seat covers are probably a better investment. I bought some waterproof cordura ones for mine, figuring that the kids would spill all over.

When I was buying in 2012, the Dodge with a few small options to bring it up to the level of the Honda was only four grand cheaper. I 100% guarantee that I'll see that four grand back when I sell it. Still really happy with our Honda. A+, would buy again.

The Caravans are so crappy, I would do everything I could to get into something better. Odyssey's and Siennas start at $32,650 and I would also look at the Kia Sedona ($29,750). The Caravan wouldn't even be on the radar it is such a POS and the depreciation is astonishing. Anything you save up front will be long gone by the time you sell it, not to mention you will be competing with 1,000,000 other people trying to sell the exact same vehicle. The flip side to that is if you just want a beater van you can buy a used Caravan for nothing.

    ^ this

Definitely try to find a 2-4 year old model. The depreciation is simply staggering.

Nothing wrong with the old, old Caravans. Thinking 2001, etc.
$1000 investment and a few hours at the junk yard to get some fixer-upper parts.
