    Default Interior Painter recommendations?

    Hi Peeps,

I am trying to decide if I want to paint the house myself after the drywall is done, or hire out. Looking for recommendations. Would need the entire place, about 6000 board feet to get primed and painted.

We used Kingtone Painting and Dec. Ltd from two close friend recommendations and overall the guys did a really good job. We have ~2,500 sq.ft including the basement with 9' walls. Including doors, casing and baseboards with 2 coats of Scuff-X, and 2 coats of BM Regal on the walls it was ~$13,000.

You could prime yourself to save some cost but painting a whole house your size is going to take awhile and honestly, just is not going to be as good as professional no matter how good you think you are.

There is zero chance I would paint myself, esp a house that size. Sorry, no recs, but just endorsement for subbing it out haha.

We used JCSB painting recently, happy with the results and they were great to work with. I think it's easiest to find them on facebook.

I used this guy for exterior painting of trim. Well priced and did a good job.

I hate painting, and I hate painters, so it's a tough spot to recommend either option. However, being a new build and the paint happening before flooring (right?) both options should be less bad.

I had my house painted a couple of weeks ago. I installed a lot of wainscotting which was all sprayed and the walls were rolled. Greg (@superflychief; ) and his team from Straight Edge painting did an incredible job.

Awesome, thanks guys! Some good recommendations for my search. Will start reaching out when I have some drywall up.

I've also used straight edge in the past with success.. did a great job on window casings.

Didn't know he was on beyond. Small world.

I'd use anyone else. Straight Edge just Kijiji'd the work out on me. Ruined my newly refinished hardwood. I know guys with similar poor experiences.

Sign me up for the "issues with straight edge" crew. I think my work was subcontracted as well.

Good to know! my experience with them was years ago, so I'd take it with a large grain of salt with these other experiences. Used JCSB more recently, husband and wife team, so likely no risk with random people showing up.

Our neighbours and friend used Urban Painter and were very happy.

I contacted about 6 painters when we bought our place in late 2021 and got the complete ring around from most of them. When I asked on beyond my inbox was flooded with people warning me about Straight Edge with horror stories which were all the opposite of the positive public posts about them.

Ultimately of the 6 comapnies I contacted only 4 called or emailed me back, 3 of them only answered me once when I asked about their availibility and what sort of information I could give them to get a quote, so I gave the work to the only company that seemed to know how answer their phone or reply to an email. I used Hardings and they were pretty good, not the best on a repaint but they did a WAY better job than I would have done so to me it was money well spent. When I developed my basement I brought them back and they did a phenomenal job as it was new construction. Any deficiencies I found they fixed ASAP and I thought their prices were more than fair. I wouldnt have them repaint cabinetry but I'd absolutely have them paid my house again.
