    Default Retaining wall contact?

We have a single 6x6 post that is rotting out on our retaining wall. I have been having a hell of a time finding someone who could replace that single post (tried a contact through Jordan already). I am guessing most don’t want to touch it because it’s a single post rather than a whole wall. Does beyond have a good contact that has experience with this kind of work?

It may not be possible to replace the single post without that section of the wall failing and being rebuilt. Could try putting in posts on each side maybe?

No. But the key to the repair is to temporarily brace the living blue Jesus out of it in two places and then remove the old one and drill a new one in.

Actually... The better key is likely to install two new ones and then remove the old one, or just fuckin leave it there.

Use multiple clamps to suck the cracks back together. Bolt both have together. Start saving for a proper brick retaining wall replacement.

Is it actually rotten, or just split? If it's just split, you could drill into it a bit and then suck it back together with a few deck screws.

Sadly the previous owners didn’t seal it properly and it has rotted out. We are looking to move in the near future so putting in a $20k stone wall is something I’d prefer to avoid if possible.

That wall should might require a professional engineer to sign off on any modification. That's probably why the legit contractors are avoiding this project.

The less you change that original design the better.

Then still do what I said, but when it comes time to sell, slap a facade around it so they can't see the crack.

Well the correct half asses answer is the following.

    Fill crack. Paint. Fixed.

Any reason you couldn’t run a big bolt through it to prevent the crack from spreading?

If it’s not rotten that might actually work pretty well.

Big ass bolt and big ass washers, and filling the crack, and painting over the whole thing, is absolutely NOT the right way to do it. Probably would be my first choice though.... Glad I'm not that kind of engineer.

Get some 1/4” steel plate cut into 4 squares to match the post width and pull them together with 1/2” threaded rod and fasteners. It will help until the post rots off at the ground, which it probably did.

If it's rotted out, a BigAssBolt will make the problem worse..
Install a post in either side, call it done

Sadly the bolt would likely just cause failure, maybe something like this below?

Get 2 of these, a 4x4 on either side and three large bolts to sinch the rotting post while also stabilizing it.

This is what I was going to suggest, but heavier gauge. Make it basically as tall as the above-ground portion of the post, one for each side, drilled every 8in for a bolt to go through.

edit: Should note that a decent home inspector will still catch this and flag the post/wall as requiring replacement... but lots of home inspectors aren't decent, and you might just get lucky.
