    Default Re-sod

    Hello Beyond,

Despite many efforts to keep our lawn minty fresh the front portion of my parents home is not looking good at all. Lots of wild grass, lots of weeds, bumpy, overall no one is happy with it.

I'd like the grass removed, level the soil, and then new sod be installed.

Any recommendations in regards to this would be most appreciated.

I had the exact same problems at my parents place with weeds/bumpy/wild grass/moss/and lots of dead spots.
I ended up putting 1/2" of top soil and leveling it, over seeding it then watering it in the morning for 14 days and the next season you couldn't tell that it was a poorly maintained lawn.

I'll see if I can find the thread or pictures of what it looked like before

^ I would also be interested in seeing those pictures. Our front lawn is a mess as well (damn wascally wabbits!)

Just in the process of doing this at the in law's... Far easier, quicker and less expensive than re-sodding.

I rented a power rake and put it to the lowest level to tear up the existing stuff. Raked that level and threw the new sod on top. Made the job pretty easy.

Used to do Cut and Re-lay all the time. Rent a sod cutter and you can have it all up in a few hours. Throw a couple yards of loam out to even it then re sod. with several hands the whole thing can be done in a day.
