I would also point fingers at platforms such as Reddit. I haven't logged into beyond in awhile (although I doubt most people notice) because platforms such as reddit means I can visit many forums on particular subjects under one websites, with one username. Much better then the dedicated forum platform.

I remember when I first joined, I really wanted to move up in gearing (neutral, first gear, second gear, ect.)... since I don't post much in the performance threads I doubt I would move from neutral lol.

And what's with the custom ones? are they just for moderators? or is there some back stories to some of these? I know A790 is "PC principal" and someone else's was "owned by a 08 noob" (D'z NUTZ I think?). If there is some back stories to these, I would love to hear em!

I think there's a "How do you have your custom usertitle" thread around here.

A790 is a South Park reference, and fairly recent.
The 08' n00b one was back in 2008, pre-facebook popularity, there was a huge influx of new faces. They were stereotypically retarded, asking repeat questions, and generally frustrating the local wildlife. It was at that point that rage2 removed the "date registered" from appearing below your avatar, since people were discriminated for being an "08".

I think an 08 just showed him up after being called out as an 08, and rage2 found it funny.

Edit: I remember when anything except ask leo counted towards gears, and when they made the change to only have the car section affect it, a bunch of folks lost gears... I didn't.

Since everyone else is sharing, I am user 16030 who been on since 2004 and counting (kind of feel like an semi-OG haha as I doubt there are that many accounts that are still active for users before mine). Was introduced to beyond thanks to pulsecrx who is long gone. Long time lurker however I have enjoyed many years of entertainment from this site

Haven't touched this account in over a decade, but was very active back on v8less/780tuners in the early 2000s and think I only ever posted here when we made the voyage down from Edmonton on group trips.
