    Default Benz G Class

Educate me or get me going in the right direction. They simply look so cool to me and i kinda want one. I'm not a fan of the newer Benz SUV's they are too round/bubbly for me. I actually prefer my 11 GLK for the sharp edges

    G Class:
    What years to avoid.
    Pricing through the years.
    Reliability.
    Maintenance.

Your general view of them, over-rated etc.

Budget anywhere from $50 to $100k

The G63 is a sick ride and would be very suiting to go with a 911

Test drive the 63 vs the 550. A friend went for a new 550 due to the harshness of the 63's ride, but to each their own.

This is the combo of choice for a bunch of people at my golf course (or Cayenne/911). Every time I'm there, it makes me feel poor.

Sorry OP, nothing useful to add.

Because AMG, those 3 letters add a whole other level imo

The G-Wagen is for people that go off road and want to show that they're baller. It's also for people who want to give off that vibe that they go off road but never do and want to show that they're baller.

I hated driving one (non AMG). It drives like a truck that has the ability to go off road, so on road you're dealing with compromises in every single department imaginable.

But hey, you'll look pretty baller in one, so go for it. At a minimum, you'll feel your dick grow 2-3 inches!

I have done some research on these and still do. Hopefully I will get one at some point but right now doesn't quite fit my lifestyle. I like the newer version 2014+ and the cheapest I have seen was $140K with about 15K km's. So they definitely aren't cheap.

I think for around $100K you could probably find a 2010-2012 model with decent mileage, however the hard thing is to actually come across one as they are fairly rare. Especially if you going the AMG route. The best thing to do would be to get in touch with a Mercedes dealer and give them your requirements and they can try to find you one. Maintenance isn't cheap as with any AMG vehicle and it is obviously a gas guzzler.

Read up on them as I believe pre 2009 had some reliability issues but I am not too informed on exactly what the problem was. A new one in either matte black or matter grey is what I'd be getting but you gotta be willing/able to fork out $150K+ on those.

I like them... however I would need an older one to get away from the rapper look.

So it's similar to an older Cayenne/Land Rover with black tail lights before the dash explodes with check lights

I bet there is going to be a lot of 2014s coming off lease next year. They are a dime a dozen on the west end of Calgary. Everyone wants to a Kardashian.

There are plenty of youtube video reviews to see what it drives like.

They're so good at off roading that almost every single NATO country uses them to some form or another for military use, Canadian Forces have some of the most stock in the world only second to the German Army iirc. Been in production almost 40 years now too.

You can still buy some really cheap military surplus every now and then unless you want to go the $100k rapper version:

    ~$20k

With all that hardcore rugged military pedigree under its skin, the most offroading most G-Classes do is probably driving over a speedbump.

I've driven a 13 and 15 G63 numerous times. Imagine driving a rocket powered jeep, but even cooler. Laughably bad on gas, rough ride, and tiny interior for the size, but one of the most fun vehicles I've driven because of its interesting dynamics. Polar opposite from my ML, which isn't exciting to drive, but super smooth.

The fit and finish on the G class is top notch, and you get looks everywhere you go, more than the Turbo will get you.

haha ok. I better not then.

I do like how comfortable my GLK is. With the Blizzak WS80's for winter it drives really nice.

I'll wait until I hit the lotto before I throw money down the drain on the G haha
