    Getting snaps of it, have a couple friends who work for the county, they are running home right now to grab what they can, one is doing the press releases from the emergency area

    It looks crazy up there. Friend took a video of the fires and they are veryyyy close. is Highway 63 open?

    Just throwing this out there, any chance this was arson due to the huge decline in house prices up there?

    Haha, yeah. I just got the call to stay in Calgary. Apparently the fire is up to the highway in places. For people familiar, apparently the Super 8 and the Shell by the trailer park are gone.

    Pictures and video from family/ friends are showing a very devastating time in store...

    EDIT: You got the call as I was posting. Info I was just given by my cousin is 63 may be closed......Only other way out is north to nowhere...

    Looks like the morons at Air Canada are still not cancelling their flights into Ft Mac. WestJet has done it already.

    Have a few friends up there, not evacuated yet, but they also said the highway south was closed due to fire jumping the road. What a clusterfuck.

    If this is any precursor to how the rest of the summer wildfire season is going to go; it's going to be one hell of a summer.

    Sounds like lots of people moving north, hwy is a mess... One buddy is on the side of the road and other is in the emergency ops centre... Cellphones are still working though, so that's good

    Know a few people stuck in the gridlock. Syncrude guys. Reporting the same thing, cells and radios still working fine.

    The people at my site are gassing trucks up, but not really too many places to go to.
