Curious: in this day and age, with services like 'roam like home' and the affordability of using your phone abroad, is there still an advantage to SIM swapping?

Why not just have the convenience of keeping your number and have a seamless experience for $5/day?

I stopped sim swapping since I got a mobile hotspot. It's way more convenient keeping your number and by using wifi on the phone it's way better for battery life too!

Roam like home is the best thing since sliced bread.

I wish I could do it on my company phone, but I make good use of it with my wife's phone when we are away.

I can get a month's worth of unlimited data for about $40 when I'm in Hong Kong.

I still do it because I often travel alone and meet up with people from my destinations, so having a local number makes calling/texting me free for them.

I have a dual SIM phone so I do both - roam like home for calling home etc, local number for local stuff depending on situation.
