Really, VB type forums should essentially migrate to being wikis almost. Repositories of knowledge that are easily searchable and hold lots of answers (like NASIOC as an example).

Either way, I dislike Reddit. The search is awful, and I have never found it remotely useful.
    I couldn't agree more.

It's kinda funny that forums started out with threaded view, everyone hated it because it was tough to read in a linear fashion, which made flat view that we see here became the de facto standard. And now reddit because of it's upvoting system brings back the threaded view, which is becoming the de facto standard because nobody cares about every single response anymore.

The way people consume and comprehend information is changing.

    Thanks, Google.

I mostly find it confusing because I can't find the right areas to post or find information.

Its appallingly negative. Most of the topics are just news articles re posted and then commented on. Very little in the way of actionable information, much less than I find on /b anyway.

Could not live without Reddit at this point. I personally use the app Baconreader on android for it and don't find it hard to read at all. Whenever there is like a natural disaster, terrorist attack, plane crash etc... I go to reddit and the coverage is leaps and bounds above anything you will find on standard media.

    Not to mention the porn...

Besides the site's primary motto of 'The Front Page of The Internet', the saying 'there's a subreddit for everything' comes in a very very close second.

Shit you could never even fathom in terms of it being a topic/interest probably has a subreddit.

/r/wtf can be pretty interesting, often nsfw.

I can't stand threaded view, it makes it very challenging to follow the flow of a topic if you return to it later. It is possible to sort oldest to newest, but I find it hard to engage conversation as most people leave it in "highest voted" and don't scroll for enough

    Reddit FTW

I think my only complaint would be all the useless comments. The ease to comment seems to lead to more bloat idk why? But its great to get news and keep up to date with bands/video games.

I usually end up using google to find stuff on reddit. Site:reddit.com midget porn usually works

Primarily on reddit nowadays instead of beyond. Takes some getting used to, but there's definitely some useful subreddits out there depending on your interests. You can always ignore the echo chambers by subscribing to opposing viewpoints, /r/Canada and /r/metacanada come to mind. /r/imgoingtohellforthis is hilarious.

Reddit feels like a message board from the 90s, just with more trolling and downvoting.

Yeah, I mean the most popular one would be /r/gonewild but there is a /r/ for just about anything you can imagine.

You can save threads to read later FYI
