Auto Obsessed Summer Prep Detail - 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder, 1 of 7 in Canada

Auto Obsessed performed an Auto Obsessed Summer Prep Detail to this 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder which is number 174 of 333 made and only 1 of 7 in Canada. The Exterior underwent a full decontamination wash including iron and tar removal. The wheels, wheel wells, door jambs, exhaust, and engine bay were extensively detailed with a host of OBSSSSD Premium Products. The headlights and taillights were polished to remove fine markings and scratches, while the entirety of the paintwork underwent a full paint correction to perfect the paintwork before application of XPEL Ultimate and STEALTH Paint Protection Film to the entire vehicle. This is no comment on the work that OP does, which of course is nothing short of stellar, but I can mirror the comments above. I spent $300 on an exterior detail of my C63AMG when I had it and I felt guilty for a week straight after that when driving the car around. It felt like the waste of money as it got dirty soon enough after that. I can't even imagine how I would feel if I spent $1K plus that AO charges and drove my car around. lol.

I guess that's why people spend the extra dough for the nano-/ceramic-coating. So even if it's dirty, maintenance cleaning is relatively simple.

I wouldn't even feel comfortable having my car transported in an enclosed container after this type of cleaning, for fear it may collect small amounts of dust just from loading and unloading.

Unreal work. You guys must be very busy. I know you would be getting my cars a couple times a year for this type of service if I was local.

Response to the comments above;

Exactly opposite, when things are completed properly and the right products are used the vehicle is more protected and is far easier to maintain. This whole car has been treated or protected so every part of it is now better protected than it had even been before.

Maintaining a car that we finish is night an day from what most people have ever experienced, we encourage people to drive their cars after they are finished and enjoy them instead of worrying about them. We have two cars at the shop that speak to this exact logic pretty much all year round and can show a client first hand what a car that is done right looks like after driving them. The 2010 Audi iS5 in the videos is daily driven and is probably one the best Audi S5's in regards to condition for one that is driven year round you will see. It is parked in front of the shop every day. This car is washed about every 2 weeks.

Second is a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo that was protected from day one and has almost 50,000kms on it, condition is exceptional and has had every aspect of it protected with products.

People pay big money for theirs cars and should be driven after they are properly prepared and protected.

Think of a cell phone, you add a screen protector and case...are you scared to use your phone after adding these two things? Does the phone stay in better shape than without when you go to sell it? If something happens like a drop, is your phone better protected and your investment saved? Similar principal really.

If you do not treat and protect your vehicles they will not be able to stand up to the elements and road conditions well and over time will become damaged. You will spend more time cleaning and maintaining the appearance and it will not look as well as a car that was done and did have regular maintenance.

Were I to have a $200,000 plus vehicle, one of I'd assume three or more vehicles, I could see spending chump change on the exceptional detailing seen here. What ratio of NHL players to one percenters in EDM would be using this service?

A cell phone is a paperweight after three years or less. Protection is not really something to get obsessive over.

Someone needs to open a car detailing service, call it Anal Vehicle Care as the name fits the space.

But I do agree a proper detail and protection makes the car a whole lot easier to maintain. Car washes were so easy and barely anything stook to the car.

I might be using them sometime towards the Fall and it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

How do the protection products used on the wheels and brakes hold up to the constant heat and dirt and brake dust? I would love to not have to scrub and pick shit out of my wheel barrels the once a year I do a solid detail on them. Even a wax coating for the wheels that withstands heat would be nice.

There are coating specifically made for wheels. However, you can also use paint-coating for wheels as well.

The wheel coatings we use hold up 1 year on a daily car and 2 years on a summer/toy car. It takes us 4+ hrs to fully prepare and coat them. Wheel waxes/sealants normally hold up 2-4months depending on usage and what products are used to clean the wheels afterwards.
